I was shocked when I read the headline. It is also for a "make-do" contract that is somewhere near the minimum (it seems like the league is paying part of it). This seems like bad news for a heat hater like myself. If he cause any sort of distraction he is instantly cut. If he ever figures out how to use his talents and be a scorer off the bunch they have gotten a really talented player for cheap. I don't believe for a second he can negatively impact their team despite his recent playing. Sigh, sad to see both this and Oden.

I don't think Beasley will do much there due to a lack of available playing + touches + shot attempts but Beasley will be an upgrade over Rashard Lewis as backup PF for 10-15mpg.

PG: M.Chalmers, N.Cole
SG: D.Wade, R.Allen, J.Jones
SF: L.James, S.Battier, M.Miller
PF: U.Haslem, M.Beasley, R.Lewis
 C: C.Bosh, C.Andersen, J.Anthony, G.Oden

I suppose it is possible Beasley could beat out Haslem as starting PF. Haslem has declined quite a lot in recent years. Beasley's offensive game would be a great fit in their spread out offense if he can adjust to being lower on the pecking order.

Not expecting that to happen though. It would be nice if it did though. I would love to see Beasley come good. Talented player.

On another note, that Miami Heat bench is really impressive. At a minimum they have 13 players you would happy throwing into a playoff game. Plus whatever end up with in M.Beasley and G.Oden. Unusual to have so many playoff-ready options on one's bench. Deep team.

not surprised, Miami/Miami fan-base liked him when he was there. Not to mention I heard he had a good relationship with Haslem and Wade.

Going back where he was drafted - a chance to win a championship, talented enough to actually contribute. Win-Win situation in my opinion

Strange, I don't remember any of the Heat players getting arrested for Domestic Violence this offseason.

Anyway, I totally called this one. Because I'm Psychic.

Not that it matters much but they did lose Mike Miller. I also wouldn't be happy to throw Rashard Lewis, Joel Anthony or J Jones in a playoff game, but I get your point and agree they are really deep. Makes me sick

This would have been like Boston signing Greg Oden.  It wouldn't necessarily make an impact, but it's like "well... in an alternate universe we drafted Greg... so we might as well just sign Greg... now you can't POSSIBLY say that 2007 draft didn't work out BRILLIANTLY for us".  It would have just been humorous for Ainge more than anything.  "We got the title AND Jeff Green AND Greg Oden.  Master GM!"

The Heat drafted Beasley with the #2 pick and then basically gave him away for NOTHING in order to have cap space to sign LeBron/Bosh/Wade.  If you're looking for something to complain about Riley's managing of the "Big 3 Heist", it would be the fact that he gave up Michael Beasley for nothing.  Like the above hypothetical scenario... Riley signing back Michael Beasley probably will not make an actual impact... it's just Riley's way of saying "LOL... we got LeBron, we got Wade, we got Bosh, we got 2 titles... AND we got back Beasley.  What now, suckers?  MASTER GM!!!"

The bolded part is definitely not true. I recall him, along with JO, getting the majority of the blame and after the 2010 playoffs by Heat "fans". In fact they were calling for his head when he basically no showed against us in game 5.

Yeah, if there's one way I'd describe the players on the Heat roster, it's thugs.

I don't see how Miami could trust him in important games.  His mediocre shooting certainly doesn't make up for all of his boneheaded plays and horrible defense.
