Well, if I had to choose between believing either Doc or Danny, I'd choose Doc every time.

Danny is a pathological liar, and snake oil salesman.  Why would I ever believe a word he says?

Because he works for the Celtics.

I'll assume this is sarcasm

Haha, of course it is.

You folks are pretty special.

When was the Celtics last game? When was the crazy S.A.S trade rumor first uttered? When did Danny ask for a meeting with Doc? When did Omnership send Doc a letter he never opened (that is kinda amazing....mind blowing considering your making millions, not talking to your employer except via media "S.A.S" and after leaving a meeting which the employee makes no definitive or clarifying remarks to assure management they feel the need to send of a "reminder" of his contracts details.)<<<<<<<later says he's sure he got this letter but never opened it?

Then 20+ days later he goes on SAS show...the guy who uttered the rumor most everyone around here says was ridiculous and proceeds to not ask Doc if he's going to L.A. or Boston? The guy that broke the rumor not touching it while Danny and Wyc were surely, along with folks like me...waiting for Doc to put the craziness to rest...nah...it just got worse. Timelines are good. Ya'll should use em'. Danny still says and Wyc does too that Doc began this idea. They do not waiver on that and never have.

^ I also don't understand why this is still a discussion.

Ainge and the ownership's side is very straightforward. Regardless of Ainge's entirely undeserved reputation as a snake-oil salesman (I think people just read too much into what he actually says), the facts are what they are.

Nothing about Doc's story adds up. He's trying to have it both ways, which is why he's getting pilloried here.

Doc is allowed to want more than one thing that can't be done simultaneously.

It's possible Doc had an order of preferences:
1 - Stay in Boston and try to win
2 - Go to the Clippers and contend
3 - Rebuild in Boston
4 - Take time off and do some broadcasting
5 - Coach another contending team such as the Nets
6 - Coach the Heat
7 - Coach a non-contender

Maybe 3 and 4 were flip-flopped.  Maybe 1-4 were attractive options and 5-7 were unattractive options.

I have a suspicion that Doc and Danny knew that a rebuilding period would lead to them clashing strongly about who deserved playing time.  I'd guess guess that Doc probably brought up the Clippers as a possibility that someone else mentioned rather than something that he wanted and didn't get the love that he expected, so he began to see that as something to seriously consider.
