This is perhaps the most shocking news of the NBA off-season...
Not as shocking as Fab Melo clearing waivers

I am sure you are kidding because everyone knows Melo is a STIFF!!!
Yeah it was a heavily sarcastic comment
Fab is a dud and he hasn't shown the ability to develop into what people wanted
That was a bad pick by Danny

Beasley's career avg are 14/5/1 in 26 mins. That's not mind blowing, not great, not lottery talent but to say he is garbage is laughable! If you don't like him say it, you think he has greatly underachieved say that, you think he's a troublemaker or a punk say that... but when you say ridiculous stuff like he is garbage then I want to know how a garbage player can even make it and stay in the NBA for 5 seasons? Don't say it's b/c of potential because there are many people who last less than a year or 2 who have potential (*cough* Fabricio). He can play, he just doesn't have it mentally.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Beasley is a loser, not surprised.

Such a waste of talent.

No one has used the word "garbage" in this thread.  On the other hand, I think "cancer" is a reasonable label.

But he is in the league because of potential.  He hasn't yet made a team better when he's on the floor.  But teams keep thinking he has the "potential" to keep his head in the game, play some defense, take better shots, etc.  If anyone thought that what you see is the finished product, then he wouldn't be in the NBA... wait, he's not in the NBA.

I think Beasley is a great example of a player who thinks he's the best player on the floor because people have been telling him he's the best player on the floor his whole life. I think it was a bit with Rick Adelman last year (two years ago?) where he said something to the effect of "Michael's good on offense, but sometimes he forgets that he has teammates on the floor with him."

I don't think being in the conversation for the  #1 pick helped at all, and I certainly don't think being traded from the Miami Heat (where, if I recall correctly, he played pretty well) to the icy tundra of Mt. Misadventure that was the David Kahn-era Minnesota Timberwolves helped him either.

It's possible that he could play well on a team that's actually contending. I don't know if he'll ever be in that situation, though.

I'm not surprised about the Beasley flame out at all.  I remember reading stories about him pre-NBA where a coach would be speaking to his team and Beaz would be making noises like a loser kid in detention.  I wish I had the link now. The guy has the mental makeup of a 10 year old.

I am sufficiently scornful of Beasley's performance and issues that I sincerely hope he becomes a Laker.

Can't think of a more deserving team. They could have Odom and Beasley.

Yea, I wasn't really just talking about THIS thread that's why I didn't quote anyone. I have seen many articles w/ comments on him and other threads. I'm talking about the whole idea that he isn't an okay player.

Not about your comment- No, he is not in it just because of potential... if not for his attitude 14/5/1 is not bad and is good enough to remain in the NBA regardless if he gets any better. His attitude is the real reason he isn't on a team right now.

From Woj:

Quote
The two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat are considering the possibility of bringing back troubled free-agent forward Michael Beasley, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Several of the Heat's key veteran players are supportive of the signing of Beasley, and he has a strong interest in returning to the franchise responsible for taking him with the second overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft, sources told Yahoo.

No offer has been made and no deal is considered imminent, sources said.

Attitude is part of the package though.  If he were helping the team he wouldn't have been cut for being caught with weed.

I've been thinking about it a bit more--he'd be a great pickup for the Heat. Definitely an upgrade over at least half of their bench, and he's still so young that a reclamation isn't out of the question.

Not to mention, they have veterans on that team that could keep him in line, if such a thing is even possible; the Heat is becoming kind of an old man's club, now. And they don't need him, either. Probably the best place for him to go.
