On Pierce's earlier comments about Nets taking over NY, Smith responds.

Quote
"I just look at him as a bitter person just getting out of Boston. He doesn't really know what New York is all about. He's been playing in Boston his whole career," Smith told ESPN New York on Saturday.

Smith, speaking without anger in his voice, added: "He just knows, just know that his words have consequences and he's going to have to pay for them."

Nets vs Knicks were good games last season, I expect them to be even better this season. It was even said that Stern reportedly had a talk with the Nets and Knicks owners to 'play nice'...building a good rivalry.

J.R. who? Hahahah

Pierce playing for Boston for almost his entire career knows the New York Knicks well more than J.R. Smith who is with them for only...2 years?

That was my exact thought..and he's been burning the Knicks majority of that time.

Glad to hear that J.R. Smith views himself as an authority on what New York is "all about" as a sports town, after playing there for a season and a half.

Pierce has probably hit more 4th quarter shots in Madison Square Garden than Smith ever will.

I'm guessing that Mr. Smith will find himself playing against one fairly fired-up small forward for the Nets next season.

i agree, but in fairness to smith, he is a jersey kid so he knows the ny mentality.

It makes me endlessly depressed that this topic is solely an NBA topic and not a Celtics topic.

If any of them regret those words, it certainly won't be PP.

I bet even Knicks' fans value Pierce's opinions over Smith's.

Correct me if I'm wrong, cause I don't know how much influence NY has on New Jersey, but that's like saying a kid from New Hampshire knows the Boston mentality. They don't.

Smith is probably my least favorite NBA player. Just grinds my ears when I hear this guy talk.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

mmm, we swept them back in 2011, pretty sure that NY team was bitter too. Who wouldn't be bitter after a loss. That is what drives champions. Pierce is a winner and a competitor. Just look at his career vs JR's career. Pierce has been to the conference finals 4 times, finals twice, NBA Finals MVP...now look at JR, 6th man of the year, conference finals once

yeaaaa, Pierce doesn't know you JR, take a seat

ok i was pretty much eh about watching the nets closely next year.  But maybe i will need to pay closer attention now.  JR Smith is of my top 5 least fav players in the nba.  I really think he should shut up and try to let his play do his talking.  Because every time he opens his mouth I lose a bit more respect for the fellow.

go get 'em pp and kg...haha
