dont know if u heard but new york is a pretty desirable city to play for. it has its ups and downs like any other city but id venture out to say more ppl would rather play in ny than in boston. u dont have to feel sorry for kg and pierce. and wens the last time brooklyn even had a team before u say that brooklyn fans r the worst fans in the nba? the brooklyn nets have only been a team for 1 year. durin that year they got fans from the new jersey net days, they got knick fans who originally live in brooklyn, and they got brand new fans who probably didnt have a favorite nba team prior.

im not a net fan cuz i been a celtic fan for a while now. ive seen more nets games and been to more nets games but i still put that green and white over anything.

When's the last time a big name free agent "took their talents" to NYC? Jasonn Kidd? He really put them back on the map! Pretty sure the only lure to playing in NYC is getting overpaid by the Yankees. Knicks fans are real. Brooklyn not so much. And yes, I've been to a game there. Worst fans/sporting event I've ever attended.

amare stoudemire. he was one of the best pfs in the game at the time. later on tyson chandler. wen he was one of the best defensive bigs in the game. and after all that they traded for melo, so if anything is holding the knicks back from grabbing another big free agent its their wallet.

and be serious, brooklyn fans are the worst fans in ur opinion cuz u been to "a" game? like really? u been to one game and u smack a label on an entire fanbase? if thats how u go about everything then theres honestly no point in goin back nd forth wit u cuz ur not gonna care wat i say, so imma jus dead this exchange rite here.

When the Knicks are once again knocked out of the first round and the nets are playing Miami for a spot in the ECF...then Mr Smith, you can come talk to me.

Lets b e honest, how many players on the current New York roster have rings? Does anyone?  Nobody **** I know of! lol I think Pierce has already one that battle!!

On Pierce's earlier comments about Nets taking over NY, Smith responds.

Quote
"I just look at him as a bitter person just getting out of Boston. He doesn't really know what New York is all about. He's been playing in Boston his whole career," Smith told ESPN New York on Saturday.

Smith, speaking without anger in his voice, added: "He just knows, just know that his words have consequences and he's going to have to pay for them."

Nets vs Knicks were good games last season, I expect them to be even better this season. It was even said that Stern reportedly had a talk with the Nets and Knicks owners to 'play nice'...building a good rivalry.

Hey, J.R. - go look up Pierce' numbers in Madison Square Garden - your 'home court'.

Then tell me he doesn't know New York.

SMH - What a tool.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

They clearly overpaid for STAT, I don't think anyone would have came close to the $100M they gave him, and for good reason.

I wouldn't consider Chandler a big name free agent. He was two years removed from a salary dump player. He rose the wave of a nice playoff run.

But yeah, Knicks fans have definitely come out of the woodwork the past couple seasons. For basically the entire decade from 2000-10, they were quiet. Now they get a star or two and have mediocre (at best) success and they are running wild.

MSG is usually a nice atmosphere, but I expect Brooklyn to match it this year, if not surpass it. Nicer arena, better team. Fair weather? Almost certainly. But the same can definitely be said about the Knicks, Yankees, or Giants. The Rangers have the realest fanbase, with the Mets not far behind. NYC is a very large city with many residents from all over the world. Now every all four sports have multiple teams, you are bound to have many fans that simply choose to root for the better team.

I fully expect Brooklyn and New York to be the biggest rivalry in the NBA next season. All four games will be wild and if they meet in the playoffs (which is entirely possible with Nets being a top seed and Knicks in the bottom half), expect fireworks.

im keepin this basketball. all that jets giants rangers talk idc.

stat was puttin up 23 and 9 in his last season wit pheonix. how many big men were averagin those numbers last season? in his first year wit new york he put up 25 and 8 how many big men were averaging those last season? did the knicks overpay? yes ur hindsight is impeccable, but i dont think many big men were averaging those numbers wen stat was on the free agent market, so im not mad at a max contract.

tyson chandler may not be a big name, but hey he was named to an all star team that shud count for somethin. he's also been a dpoy and he's made first team all nba defense in his last 2 seasons. he wasnt all that at the time of his free agency, but the knicks signed him knowin he was gonna bring a solid defensive philosophy to the squad.

as far as fans go, there are bandwagon fans in every city but i think its different for teams with new locations. brooklyn is a pretty big place wit a lotta ppl in it. they havent had a team in a while and now that they do, of course everyone is gonna rep bk. as far as behavior? it differs. brooklyn has the gud the bad the ugly and the hideous but wat city doesnt?

Pierce is just doing his new boss, and the NBA as a whole, a favor by drumming up inter city rivalry. JR Smith doesn't seem to understand that he's working in the entertainment business, not for a gang.
Celtics fan for life.
