I can see the flopping and dress code issues, but any attempt to avoid HGH testing makes the players union lose all credibility especially now with all of the issues in MLB.

All of this and especially the bold part! Drug testing is a thing with any job. Testing for those types of drugs should come with the territory seeing as those can give you a leg up on the competition! Now, what I want to know about is if they are going to actually use the results for serious penalty or be like Lance and have the results for years and not putting them out there. Like if RR tests positive will they risk the fallout of banning one of the biggest stars in the game (don't want to use an obvious name like the biggest star in the league)?
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I see CP3 has nothing to say about the officiating or doing the draft lottery in public.

The dress code still doesn't stop Chris Anderson from looking the way he does

If Paul really wanted to help the players, he'd make certain luxury seats and local media deals (especially with team-owned stations) counted fully in BRI, but he can focus on the dress code instead.  Owners keep a billion dollars from the players, but they can wear stupid glasses and hats.  Win-win.

The dress code rule was, and is, ridiculous; designed as a way to make white folks feel 'safe' about rooting for black folks
That's got to be one of the most asinine things I've seen written here.

third that, I see no problem in dressing up when you're not playing

Stern's dress code stated that all players must dress in business or conservative attire while arriving and departing during a scheduled game, on the bench while injured, and when conducting official NBA business (press interviews, charity events, etc.). The new dress code banned fashions most often associated with hip-hop culture, specifically: jerseys, jeans, hats, do-rags, t-shirts, large jewelry, sneakers and Timberland style boots.[3]
I think that's fair enough. Sure it's a bit stricter than the dress-code here at my work, but I'm a web designer. My dress code hardly influences any kids out there.

I can't wear shorts or flip-flops or whatever, or offensive shirts.

I don't mind; you're at work, so dress like it.

  • No contaban con mi astucia !!!
smart move on his part

-- Eliminating flopping fines
something he could potentially get

-- Forbidding any dress code additions/changes
something he probably will get

-- Preparing a battle plan to fight any league proposal for HGH testing

something he already knows he will not get and can concede in exchange for something else well making it look like the owners won the issue.

ahhh politics

my thoughts exactly, even if you're refusing to put on a tie and suit, at least go for business casual or semi business casual

I can see preventing any more dress codes but what is the defense for the flopping and hgh? Flopping rule is a good one and it imoroves the quality ans the perception of e quality of the game. Defending against HGH would only hsve to be thr blue print along the testing. Offseason testing? Marijuanna? Invasive testing? I think we would also need more information to see the players pov from this.

Flopping fines would intervene with his acting career.

TBH, my 'asinine' comment related to the whole 'safe' comment more than the dress code.
I have to admit that seeing players at least come to the arena looking more professional gives the impression they take this seriously as opposed to seeing players come to the arena trying to look like the dealer down on the corner and looking like they're entitled jerks.
I'd be fine with 'business casual', at least look presentable like anyone that has a real job.

Same here.  He seems like a selfish, whining, flopping jerk.

The HGH thing is ridiculous, but as another poster mentioned, he may be saying that as a means to try and get something else in another area done.

I can understand the flopping fines from his perspective, so that's whatever.

As far as dress code, I've always believed you have to dress to fit the part, no matter what.  The NBA wants to come across as a professional, world-class organization, so if suits and other business type attire are required than so be it.  I have no problems with anyone wearing urban culture influenced clothing but when you go to work, you've got to follow the rules.  Dress how you want on your own time, but when you go to work you are representing that place of employment and have to present yourself in the way that the company would like.
