Still pretty shocked about the value LA gave up for Rubio and Jeff Green...

Now Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard together with a host of solid role players?

I'm taking my ball and going home.

I wouldn't go that far.  I wouldn't rank OKC at the top of the league just yet.  They've still got Iman Shumpert and DeMar DeRozan as their starting wings, and Taj Gibson is nobody to write home about.

OK, I'll bang the gavel on the tenth round.

With the 10.1, OKC selects Marco Belinelli.

To do list:

1. Cross Lucky's name off Christmas card list since he's stolen half of your remaining draft board.

2. Drink more coffee

3. Complain to GC about that darn Lucky.  ;D

Guys, Lucky is still surrounding Dwight with three non shooters. Hide yo shooters fellow gms.

He just very quietly added Chase Budinger.

I'm extremely upset about this.

Horford isn't on the level of Gasol/Duncan, but Garnett is better than West and roughly equivalent to Nowitzki

I'd rank...

Gasol/Diggler
Horford/Garnett
Duncan/West

The Garnett & Duncan combos are so close...really flip a coin

I don't know if I'd rank Gasol / Dirk first.  They're the worst rebounding of the three listed combos, and the worst (combined) defensively.  Are their offensive contributions enough to trump?  I'm not sure.

For me, none of these trios particularly stand out. Each one of them are formidable in their own way, and your preference is entirely going to lean towards what you're looking from in your bigs, as well as what sort of players they're surrounded by. What is certain is the fact that all three of them are definitely among the most talented frontcourts in the league.

That being said, I think it's very shortsighted to say Dirk/Marc are the worst combo because of their rebounding and defense. Big men aren't the only ones who rebound on a team, and rebounding isn't a commanding factor to begin with. The most obvious example would be Boston in recent years (Bass & KG), but Miami and San Antonio are two of the most successful teams in recent years that don't crack the top half of the league in rebounding.

Furthermore, Marc's DPOY might be a fluke, but so was his absence from the all-NBA first defensive team. The perception of Dirk being a "bad" defensive player is simply not true anymore because he has committed to that end of the floor a lot more at this stage in his career, and the numbers back it up; furthermore, Dirk has demonstrated that his diminishing defensive deficiencies can further be masked playing alongside an elite defensive center. Again, I'm not going to say any of these three combos are superior because each are dominant in their own way, but to say Dirk/Marc is the worst defensive combination of the three is absolutely false.

Yeah i think when the dust settles the West is gonna be a bloodbath --- Lebron, Dwight, CP3, Harden... but all teams have a weakness... so it'll be interesting to see the playoff matchups.

Yeah, I'm awful glad to be in the East right now.

I love how a move changes everyone's mind. We had Derozan at the 3 and got killed for it he is the 3 for OKC and everyone looks past it. Interesting.

That's because he has Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard. It's easy to look past that when you have those two to build around.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

OKC got an MVP-caliber player in exchange for an above-average SF and spare parts. Of course everyone's going to look past something like that.

Glad to be in the East where I feel a playoff spot is a possibility.
