If the proposed trades coming through my inbox are any indication, it looks like a lot of GMs are getting bored and/or are hyper-focusing on the advice of their critics (who, coincidentally enough, generally tend to be their competition.)

My advice:  don't make panic trades.  It happens every year, where a contender blows his team up because of some criticism, or where a GM gets bored, and wants to make a trade for "fun".  Stick to your guns.  If one of the other vulture GMs is persistently hounding you about a trade, don't give in.  Shop around for the best deal, or stand pat.

Agreed -- team is a bit short of offense and playing LeBron at PF is the solution to that.

It will do wonders for Monta Ellis too. All that extra space will give him much more room for his slashing game. Make him more efficient and deadly.

Everybody will get better quality shots with those two penetrating into the paint. Space out the floor, more open lanes for dribble drives, forces defenses to collapse on ball-handler, leaves shooters open and leaves finishes around the basket more open (D.Jordan, S.Ibaka).

Without that extra spacing, defenses can collapse into the paint and force Monta + Bradley into long jump shots and LeBron + Monta into more contested drives. Lower quality shot attempts. Less efficiency. Less scoring.

Well with my last trade, I really accomplished a few things that my team really needed.

One was adding a backup point guard who can knock down threes at an efficient clip (I was going to use 10.1 on an available one, but I preferred Chalmers). I only had LeBron, Monta, and Avery (shaky ball-handler) as guys who were capable of handling the ball. Chalmers is a good addition.

Two was additional outside shooting. There was a time where my team's floor spacing was horrendous and didn't have enough efficient outside shooting. Now with Chalmers, Korver, Battier, Miles, and James on the roster - Bradley, Ellis, Ibaka, and Davis aren't going to have the pressure of being primary floor spacers. Ibaka and Davis can stick to their mid-range games, Ellis can stick to slashing, and Bradley can focus on full-court defense on the opposing point guard and knock down the occasional corner three.

The third - and previously mentioned - was LeBron at the four. He has the speed to blow by slower fours for baskets/draw fouls. He also has the ability to be a playmaker from the post to find shooters around him. He has obviously morphed the real life Miami Heat into a positionless roster because of his ability to do everything well. I wanted to surround him with defenders and shooters and I think I have done a good job at that. It will be about matchups - I think - and depending on the quality of my opponents wing players will determine whether he plays at the 3 or 4.

This is what I was thinking for a rotation...

3 - James (18), Battier (20), Korver (10)

I was wondering how long Oden would last. The upside of the Oden/Drummond/Unibrow rotation is kind of staggering.

That's upside, though. Maybe at the end of this season we'll be laughing about how Oden moves like Joel Przybilla and Drummond has the instincts of Javale McGee.
