What do you mean to Detroit?

Look at their roster.
I don't get it either. They have a young roster and some wily vets off the bench to mentor the youth and get some minutes is a pretty good idea, IMHO.

The Sixers select Kendrick Perkins and Gerald Wallace as veterans to help develop our youngsters.

Gerald Wallace is great, great value at this point in the draft. Even in the midst of an awful offensive season, he was still soaking up minutes, defending both forward spots at a high level, and moving the ball well on offense.

I am thinking with respect to TOTF.

I'm not going to pile on my fellow mods too much, but I think maybe they've gotten a little too cute this year.

Kyrie Irving
Lance Stephenson/Evan Fournier
Danillo Gallinari/Evan Fournier
Pau Gasol/Gallo/Splitter
Tiago Splitter/Jonas Valanciunas

I don't really see the problem. Shooting, defense, high-upside. All done with the crappiest drafting spot and zero time from either of us..could be better, but I think it could be a lot worse.

The "high upside" part is what I'm talking about.  You're betting on upside, where in a lot of cases, that upside is no better than what was available (as a proven player) on the board.

Kanter was one of the bigger reaches of the third round.  Gortat seemed like the best and safest option in my mind.  At least with Kanter, a lot of people see upside.

However, spending your 6th and 7th rounders on guys who *combined* for 14.1 points per game last year just seems like a pretty big waste, especially with guys like Thornton, Delfino, etc. still available.

It's like you're in DKC mode, or building a team of the future.  You started with a core of Kyrie Irving and Pau Gasol, which made your squad a top-tier contender.  Instead of supplementing that core with excellent role players, you've by and large reached for players.

From my perspective, the Mod Squad is probably a lower-end playoff team, and certainly not a contender.  I wonder, if you'd put together a squad like this, would you be better off:

Gortat
Gasol / Splitter
Battier
Gordon / Delfino
Irving

(Swap out Battier with a SF to be named later if you wish).

Anyway, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but that's what I meant by "cute".

(And, yes, I do realize you're sort of mailing it in this year, and understandably so.)

Oh I get it now. I have said this before, I will never attempt to build a team of the future, I will pick the players I believe to be the best fit then once the season starts and I am proven correct I will point it out to others.

IE.. my "team of the future" that included Paul George and Damian Lillard last year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Might be a reach, but Hawks take

John Henson

Blocks and rebounds!
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

From our DKC discussions, I expected nothing less from you. Lol

I like him - he put up solid efficiency stats for a rookie last year, and should continue to develop.  Needs to work on consistency, and I don't know if he'll be ready for primetime this year, but a very promising piece.

Spurs would've drafted him tomorrow am. His metrics look great. If he'd landed into a solid rotation role on another team last season, everybody would be talking about him.

CK backing up my chatter.

I will say this, round-by-round, Champ might have CB's highest overall success rate. He consistently finds solid rotation players.

I'm mostly sad that I missed out on adding Gerald Wallace to my old man crew. Henson is all over the place, but when he puts it together he does things like go 28/16 or 17/25. Assuming he put on a little bulk after living in Wisconsin, he should be better off holding it down in the paint this year.

Waiting on a trade announcement, but I'll make the other GM's pick on time if the trade isn't posted before 3:20.

I can't help but envision a training regimen that involves all the Scotch Eggs, bratwurst, and dairy products he can stomach, provided they come from cows who have been massively dosed with rBGH.

I think it is a year too early for Henson.

I don't expect much more from him next season than what he did last year for Milwaukee. Two established starters in Ilysaova and L.Sanders ahead of him and ____ taking backup center minutes. Competing with ---- for the 15-20mpg that is leftover.
