You know I remember where I was and what I was doing when:

The Challenger exploded.
9/11 happened.
Obama was declared the winner of the 2008 presidential election.
Hurricane Katrina hit
The Blizzard of '78 occurred.
Len Bias died.
Reggie Lewis died.
The Red Sox won it in 2004.

I'm not sure I even have a clue whether I found out the Celtics hired Stevens on the day he was hired or not or can remember where I was or what I was doing. Just a fairly unimportant day to me.
nick did a way better job on this post than I would have done.  I agree with the sentiment here.

I was painting my bands jam space.
Checked my phone for Boston Celtics updates while taking a break.

I was in Dar es Salaam Tanzania. My friend broke the news to me by email. I thought he was joking.

This was my first reaction to the thread title!

The Stevens hiring was not exactly a 'Kennedy Assassination' moment.

I was F5ing CelticsBlog's home page.

At the time, I couldn't tell Brad Stevens from Shaka Smart... then I started reading and I was pleased.

At this point, I like Coach Stevens more than Doc Rivers.

I was at a bar in Nebraska trip visiting my girlfriends family. Saw it up on the tv on ESPN and then wanted to log into this site but it must've been so full of people it wouldn't load up.
My reaction? A low risk, possible high reward pickup.

This.

If we're going for memorable, the Nets trade was certainly much more memorable. A surreal moment, like the floor disappeared from under me. I learned about the trade on draft night and I remembered hating on the Olynyk pick because it felt like all was kind of lost. This is despite the fact that I'm quite happy with the haul. This trade reminds me a lot of the trade deadline when Ainge moved Perk - the roster was gutted.

But, FWIW, I kind of wanted the Spurs assistant coach but am hyped for this hiring. The Stevens hiring was a "slowly warming up to the idea" kind of deal for me.

Where were you and how did you react when the Celtics signed D.J. White last year?

Went to bed having just read how Ainge was in no hurry to hire a coach, woke to see this forum ablaze with talk of this fantastic college coach that I had never heard of landing the job.

Didn't find out about it until later when I heard it on sports radio.  I was like, ok we needed a new coach.  Read more about him on the internet and thought it was an interesting move by DA.  Definitely a long term move.  Hopefully it pays off.

This wasn't a particularly memorable moment... but the reaction it caused on everybody was. And that moment of shock will became pretty funny and historical when Stevens turns himself into one of the best coaches of the next decade, IMO.
