Where were you on that July 3 and what were your first thoughts when you heard/read about the new Celtics coach? I'm from Portugal but I was waiting at a German airport (Frankfurt) when I casually picked up an American newspaper. I was simply shocked... Like Bob Ryan wrote a few days ago, N-O-B-O-D-Y saw this one coming but I get the feeling Danny Ainge hit a jackpot.

I mean... the more I hear Stevens talking and the more I read about him, I think it's impossible this guy won't became a great coach in the NBA. Intelligent, extremely well prepared, competitive and humble. I'm really excited about the Brad Stevens Era.

I was at work, when I found out about the news, I was really confused...mainly because I know Brad Stevens is a good coach in college, but no idea how he fares in the NBA. I was really hoping for George Karl

then I began reading all the comments about him and then became really excited...

Was at my parents' neighorhood beach in Pocasset and found out via Twitter on my phone.

At first, I was like what the heck?  Totally out of left field but then I started talking myself into it and a "We're rebuilding and let's think outside the box" viewpoint.

In Alantic City in Revel Casino. He was a total unknown. After a day or so of research I was happy with the pick.

I was readin' the ESPN blog like always; I was so surprised and happy because I already knew how awesome of a coach he was from March Madness. Both years I rooted for Butler big-time and really liked how they played.

I think it's a ridiculously good hire; this guy could be a HOF coach.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
I was at home watching videos of The Last of Us on YouTube and checked Twitter real quick.  I saw Woj had said the Celtics hired Stevens and I was like, "Okay then."

I was this "..." when I heard Brad Stevens was hired.

Then I did some research on him. Afterwards, I was like this " ;D"

Better than having Doc Rivers!

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I was at work, flipped the channel into ESPN and saw it as breaking news.

I jumped for joy! Customers looking at me all confused and all and I didn't care.

You know I remember where I was and what I was doing when:

The Challenger exploded.
9/11 happened.
Obama was declared the winner of the 2008 presidential election.
Hurricane Katrina hit
The Blizzard of '78 occurred.
Len Bias died.
Reggie Lewis died.
The Red Sox won it in 2004.

I'm not sure I even have a clue whether I found out the Celtics hired Stevens on the day he was hired or not or can remember where I was or what I was doing. Just a fairly unimportant day to me.

I was doing what I usually do during NBA offseason: camping my Twitter feed!

And my thoughts were: "who?" and "better go to CB".

Nailed it as usual, nick.

My never forget where I was moments in chronological order:

1. JFK shot
2. Nixon resigning
3. Len Bias
4. Oklahoma City Bombing
5. 9/11
6. Bin Laden taken out

Stevens signing, not a whiff of an  idea.
