What's the word on Tyrus Thomas? At 26 years old, I think he's worth the min somewhere. Is he really that toxic at this point?

I'd love to see him land somewhere good. Really talented player.

I don't know if he's any good anymore.  He has shot 35% from the field over the last two seasons- very hard to do as a big man known for dunking.  I think he has Michael Beasley level interest in basketball.

Too bad cause he seems like has some good talent. I would invite him to camp without hesitation, but with our roster already having too many players and his character issues I bet Danny stays away. He could pull a ZRandolph and turn it around and be able to help a young team out.

Man, why couldn't the talent some of these players are graced with go to someone who would actually use it wisely an appreciate their gift.

I think he's been having weight problems.  Always been a fan of his talent.

We could definitely use a shot-blocker of his ability if we clear up a roster spot or two in the coming months.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

He'll end up in a back role for a competitor like Miami of LA.
His FG% was down bcuz he was forced to play out of position at SF Alot during the last 2 seasons and shoot more.
His jumper is far from reliable, but he'd be a great shot blocking dunker.
Doubt he'll ever end up in Boston though
Can't stop, Rondo!

Too much weight, or too little? First I heard of that. I was a big fan of his at LSU, thought he would be stud in the NBA.  Wow, was I off on that one.

I think the key description for him is "unfulfilled potential" even after all these years

All these points considered of course, in the man's defense.

-He's never played with a passer of Rondo's caliber. Rose is of course is the better overall player but was always in attack mode while Rajon Rondo is a much more methodical taction. Rondo used to get Perk open Dunks and its well documented how tough his time has been in OKC. Bobcats meanwhile had little to no identity and most likely had more than a few players desperate to stand out.

-He's a former, albeit misguided, number overall 4 pick. At one time was projected to be a rotation player by people paid to identify talent.

-26 is still young and in this scenario he would replace Chris Wilcox. Tyrus Thomas has more densive potential than Wilcox and could even possibly work a change of pace speed line with Phil Pressey for 9-12 minutes a game.

-Since he's been Amnestied he's paid meaning he's free to accept the Vet Min. Thats as rare a chance I've ever seen to acuire a low risk high reward player.

As far as I'm concerned the questions to ask would be; is this value outweighed by his potential (there's the dreaded P word again) be a cancer to the locker room? Another user in another forum threw out a relevant quote from Kareem Abdul Jabbar. "Talent has a shelflife" Despite his age is it time to assume that he will fail to meet his potential?

IMO he either works out or he sends us up a couple of slots in the lottery. I'd take that over watching Wilcox miss another denfensive rotation for the third time in 5 minutes.

He just seems to me the type of player that doesn't work hard to get better, and the last few times I saw him play he looked like he put on bad weight.   I'm not really a fan at this point.  I'd rather pass.

Yeah even if he is still weak and light, he has become puffy with no muscle definition.  This is going to be his eighth year in the league and his role has been reducing along the way.  I'm not that much of an optimist to think that he will suddenly be a contributor this far into his career when he has shown nothing but regression up until this point.

The people paid to identify talent have had 5-6yrs to evaluate and seem to have determined he's not worth picking up at all.

On top of that, he's a headcase and not a good fit for our young team.

Would have been intriguing on a team with KG, Pierce and Doc. Now not so much
