Love the thread title. Totally unshocking indeed.

Dudes a waste. Talk about an unpromising career. He has to be on the All-NBA knuckle head team right? Or at least somewhere on the first second third ballot...

Anyone care to fill one out?

Of the top of my head... 1st team/2nd team

PG Marbury/Arenas
SG Isiah Rider
SF Beasley/ Antoine?
PF Baker/Kemp
C  Keon Clark (quoted as drinking a fifth of whiskey before every game...wish i could find that quote)/ Jayson Williams

Im sure there is worse but this is just a quick scan of my brain.

He had to be pulled over for something- possibly erratic driving.
A reason that wasn't in the article.

You're assuming it's because of erratic driving. He might just as well have been pulled over because:
- He's driving around after 1am and is black (this would imply racism on the cops side, just as unfounded as implying Beasley was driving like a drunk)
- His rear light might not have worked.
- Routine funnel where they do breath checks?
- The cop wanted an autograph.
etc.

Then you're assuming the cop could smell weed? Perhaps it was a routine search. Perhaps they fell out of the glove department when he grabbed his drivers license or car papers. Maybe Beasley showed them when the cop asked if he had any incriminating items in his car.

Fact remains, Beasley's an idiot for getting caught with this kind of crap all the time. No need to spice up the story, it's bad enough already.

This is from the original article:

An officer found three cigarettes suspected to contain marijuana in Beasley's Mercedes after smelling marijuana during the stop, Pubins said.

So, no assumptions there, anyway.

Also worth noting, he wasn't cited for DUI.

He apparently must have gotten himself a valid license in the past few months, too.

So great that Miami bagged the 2007-2008 season and received the right to draft Beasley for their troubles.  I keep this clown in mind every time someone suggests we tank next year.

On the one hand, he's been pulled over for speeding at least twice.  On the other hand, it is Arizona, so DWB is a perfectly normal explanation for why he was pulled over.

Well at least he is showing signs that he is maturing by putting a license plate on.

Remember the 2008 NBA draft build up. It was supposed to be deep at the top with 2 sure fire NBA franchise type players. Miami tanked hard that year and got one of those supposed franchise players.

Turns out Beasley, besides being a massive pot head, also thinks he's an elite basketball player because that is what he has been told his whole life. So he really hasn't fit into any team, doesn't pass to his team mates, doesn't play team defense(or any other type of defense) and just chucks it at an obscene rate of a shot every 30 seconds he is on the court.

Watch what you wish for Celtics tanking fans. You just might get it. Managing your team to play bad to get a high(pun intended) draft pick while drooling over 17 year olds when you have zero clue what their personal makeup is all about, to me is foolish and Michael Beasley is a perfect example of this.

Beasley is a knucklehead, but he's talented. I wouldn't mind him on the Cs if they got some picks in the process. The Suns are power tankers this season, so they could be a trade partner and both teams could also benefit out of helping OKC.

You'll probably hate this, but at least I'm not starting a new thread. The idea is helping Phoenix to dump Beasley and helping OKC to dump Perk. This trade needs to be done after December 15th so Adams can be traded. Don't worry, for trade machine purposes I've swapped Humphries with Rondo, and Steven Adams with Jeremy Lamb.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ktmpg2m

Boston out: Humphries, Bass, Lee, Crawford
Boston in: Perk, Beasley, Gerald Green, PJ3, Dallas 2014 first rounder (top-20 protected until 2018, then unprotected) from OKC, Lakers 2015 first rounder (top-5 protected in 2015, top-3 in 2016 and 2017, unprotected in 2018), Phoenix 2014 second round pick.

Phoenix out: Gortat, Beasley, Gerald Green, Lakers 1st round pick, Suns 2nd round pick
Phoenix in: Humphries, Crawford, Sefolosha and Steve Adams

OKC out: Perk, PJ3, Sefolosha, Steve Adams, Dallas pick
OKC in: Gortat, Bass, Courtney Lee

Why for OKC? win now
Why for PHO? get rid of Beasley, get 18M in expirings and Adams
Why for BOS? Get terrible in 2013-2014, buy minutes for their young PFs, get some draft picks

Boston roster:

Rondo/Pressey
Bradley/Brooks/Bogans
J.Green/Wallace/G.Green/PJ3
Sully/Olynyk/Beasley
Perk/Fav/Fab

The Cs would suck big time next season with all those terrible contracts, but they'd have 18M in expirings in 2015, a probable lottery pick in 2018 and the Laker's pick in 2015 which could be bad, or be very high (only top 3 protected), helping in the rebuild process.

Now is the time to make a move with Phoenix to get Gortat.

If we'd be willing to take Panama Red of their hands, then we should be able to get Gortat for the corpse of Fab Melo and a 2099 2nd round draft pick.
