Do you really even need to click on the link to know why?

Will some other team be dump enough to trade for Beasley?  For anyone thinking of starting a thread in the trade forum about how the Celtics should trade for Beasley, I have three words for you: DO. NOT. WANT.

If it were legal under the salary cap rules, I would not trade Gerald Wallace straight up for Michael Beasley.  Players with Beasley's problem are probably the one type of player I hate more than inefficient volume scoring shooting guards who don't play defense.

While I will leave my views on marijuana hatred aside, Beasley has simply squandered any oppurtunity to resurrect his career. Don't feel bad for him one bit.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
To be fair, if he were on the Celtics (and in Massachusetts), based on the small amount he would have simply received a violation rather than been arrested.

Obviously he can aptly be labeled a bust at this point in his career, but I don't think it really has to do with the particular arrest (or other arrests based on the same thing). It seems he just hasn't put in the work to become the player everybody thought he could be.

He was arrested for having three joints in the car. I'll bet the good citizens of Scottsdale feel safer already.

What a waste of public resources.  Apparently there aren't enough real problems in this country.  We need to spend money to make sure Michael Beasley's car is free of pot.

He was one of the worst players in the league last year and he continues to get arrested at least once a year.  Obviously he cares more about staying high than working on his game.  He is a worse version of Vin Baker.  Vin was a much better player even when he was boozing, and he got arrested a lot less.  What a waste a career.  Beasley showed a lot of promise in college and his first year in the league.

Is it a waste of resources to make sure a driver isn't drunk?

There was nothing about alcohol in the link posted here.  Do you have other information?  The cop suspected there might be marijuana in Beasley's cigarettes because he smelled it.  That seems like a waste of resources to me.  I would be very happy if instead he was arresting drunk drivers.

Michael Beasley needs to move to California and eventually try to latch on to an LA club...He'll be all set out there.

he was pulled over for some reason and then the officer smelled weed coming from the windows at 1am.  He had to be pulled over for something- possibly erratic driving.  That was how I interpreted it, anyway.  And even if the cop just smelled weed, it's not like he went out of his way to look for it.  You can't smoke in a cops face.

What a waste.

Waste of a talent.

And
Waste of time and energy for the cops.

3 joints really? Enough to get arrested?

At least he was not using performance enhancement drugs.
Now those people should get arrested too.

And each cigarette carries 1 felony count, apparently. This is just crazy.

I don't think you get how much resources the public get from fines and seizures in drug related crimes/infractions.  It is like giving speeding tickets, very profitable for the public while unless people are driving recklessly, probably minimal public safety benefit.  I once had a highway patrol officer do a u-turn in the middle of a highway to give me a 9 mph speeding ticket.  I'd argue his u-turn was 10x more dangerous than my 9mph.

Hey, if I get caught drinking a beer while driving, I expect to be arrested.  I think it should be the same with weed.
