Get ready to lose.  :)

I ain't scurred.

Good.

Also why did this year come a month later than last year?
This has always been a mod run game. This game was pushed back for reasons I am not aware of, but when Roy started this draft interest thread looking for GMs and commissioners, it was fairly obvious that this game would be pushed back from its normal starting date.

Perhaps next year it will return to an earlier starting date, perhaps it won't. That will be up to the mods who run the game.

For me, and the other mods, we had zero time, and last year it was actually a little earlier and didn't really take off for whatever reason, aside from me assembling an awesome team with a deep bench that was obviously better than Roy's team.

It may not seem like it, but as Nick is about to find out running this thing is really, really time consuming. Ideally there is someone there (who is committed to running the thing) for each and every pick. Every day, every round, yadda yadda. Plus there are trades, and if you have a team, you're trying to push your own team. Plus any conflicts that arise. Just a really demanding thing to organize and run efficiently.

Well I should have more time to dedicate to running it efficiently as I won't have a team to run as well or "push". So that's a plus.  :D

And I have run fantasy leagues before, besides the one here, so I have a fairly good idea what I am in for.

Fun starts Friday people!!! So let's get the last minute co-GMs situations worked out so we can see what GMs get what teams and draft where and when....(wow, that just confused me and I wrote it).

]Well, no such thing is going to happen here. Improvements are open to suggest in the public here. Discussions on how to make the game better will be held openly here. The rules have been in place for years and I will be enforcing them, not changing them. All suggestions for improvement will be noted and passed onto the people who make the rules and if deemed that adjustments are necessary, then those people will make them.

The CB Draft has been open for public suggestions for improvement since I have played it. Changes have been made just about after every year based on those discussions and suggestions. So it will continue to be that way here..

Did you get my comment card? Draft teams and their head coaches in lieu of a coaches weekend round. Even if you think I'm wrong now, in a year* you'll realize I was right.

*Caveat, it could take four years - Chris Bosh at center.

Why not just get rid of coaches?  I always found it kinda superfluous anyways.

Given that I was the first on this site to implement a coaches round in the Historical Draft, I don't think I will be siding with you here TWW. And the twist of making the teams from the middle of the draft get to draft their coaches first, rather evens things out a bit for that group who never seem to get a top pick in any round.

As for Rondo's comment, yeah, it is superfluous and really adds little value, but a bad coaching pick can take away from a team significantly. And when the team drafting LeBron or Durant or Howard is tending to get the worst coaches, that evens the playing board just a little bit, IMO. Maybe not a lot, but a little.

I could see with doing away with the round completely and just stating that the GM is the coach as well but I am not sure I like having the coaches that are on the real life team be included with the team during the draft lottery. I will make a point to mention both ideas to those making the rules for the future.

Chris Bosh probably lost IP the title last year.  Plus, weren't you starting Bosh next to Anthony Randolph?

Big shout out to any Mods or whoever puts the time in to manage this. Lets do this!
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I don't worry about the coaches round unless someone takes some unknown coach without any NBA experience or connection.

I would be perfectly happy not having a coaches round.

You're throwing the loss at Bosh's feet? And *cough* yes, I did start Tony at the 4. My team's are nothing if not interesting.

Still I ran the kid out during what proved to be - disappointingly - the best year of his career: 11.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks in 23 minutes per game. Was he just a mirage in the desert of Don Nelson's Warriors teams? I don't know. He's only twenty-four, so I'm still holding out some hope that he puts it all together at some point.

If anybody is on the fence about joining up, the fact that Roy and I are talking about a fantasy team from four years ago, should convince you.

I enjoy involving coaches - one more wrinkle. I just want to find a way to keep Phil Jackson and Mike Krzyzewski out of it. I'm also sure drafting franchises would be a good time, and that draft could as just easily start mid-order.

But if we're maintaining the status quo I may draft Ken Stallings to keep us five (?) year run going.

Or the fact that Rondo and I will lament our loss with a team of Tyson Chandler(DPOY), Paul Millsap, LeBron James(MVP, Finals MVP), Wes Matthews, Brandon Jennings, Mike Miller(Championship winner), Chauncey Billups, Gary Neal, Boris Diaw, Nazr Mohammed and Chris Singleton at least 3-4 times. These drafts are that fun and can be that memorable.

Was it two years ago now that Nick and I put together the best team in the Modern Era of CB drafts?

Also I still think about the all white team that I tried to assemble 3 years ago when I started with Dirk, Jason Kidd, and Chris Kaman
