From SB Nation blog NetsDaily:

NetsDaily.com ‏@NetsDaily 52m

For the record, was told on Draft Day that Boston liked Humphries more than just as an expiring contract. Ainge a fan.

ESPN New York's Jared Zwerling:

Jared Zwerling ‏@JaredZwerling 1h

Source: #Knicks had interest in Kris Humphries if Boston bought him out. But unlikely at this point. Celtics envision key role for Humph.

Is it possible that Ainge tentatively plans on keeping Humphries and would like to sign him to a new (and smaller) contract after this season?

Key role for Hump?  LOL, his only key role will be as a trade chip at the trade deadline.  But it is true that DA must showcase Hump in order to make him more attractive to buyers.

He made a mistake called Kim Kardashian. We all make mistakes.

He'd look pretty nice next to Sully. A block a game is pretty nice.

We definitely still need a defensive center. But Sully/KO is a good start. Adding Humphries to that helps a lot.

A 4 big rotation if Sully/KO/Humphries work out with a defensive big looks pretty good (YES, THEY'RE NOT BIG NAMES, BUT IT'D BE SOLID, SAVE THE SNARK).

I could see Humphries, Wallace, Bass and Lee potentially playing key roles if Danny thinks that there are going to be teams out there at the deadline that will be interested.

Of course we want our youth to have the opportunity to develop, but each of those guys could actually bring back a decent return from a contender if they get decent minutes and perform well (which is a big IF). I'd say at least 2 out of the 4 will play well and be in demand at the deadline.

Humphries has the most value out of all of them since he is an expiring deal, but also a piece that can actually contribute to a contender.

I can't imagine Danny holding onto him past the deadline given the interest that he will most likely garner from other teams either looking to add a piece for a playoff push or to clear cap room to chase some of the 2014 big free agent names.

"Expected" by whom? I see him as our starting Center if not the first big off the bench.

I'm thinking the thing Ainge liked most about Humphries is that he's a 12 million dollar expiring contract.

He's not a terrible player.  A solid 4th big on a team with a good defensive center.  But he's not much use for this team.

I agree. Humps isn't that bad of a player. The contract is bad, but thats not DA's fault. But it is an expiring, and he is in a contract year.

Best case either he plays well and DA moves him at the deadline this year for some thing nice. Or he gets to the end of the season and they use him in a S&T.

Worst case he plays okay and hes gone at the end of the year.

I believe Hump will be a 12-10 player for this team. He will shoot over 60% playing with Rondo.

Of course he will.

If he can still put up empty numbers, some team may actually offer the Celtics something of rebuilding use for him.

Yeah, here's the thing that kinda sucks about Kris Humphries hate: before all the Kardashian stuff, he was much beloved in Dallas for his gym rat work ethic and dirty work game. If there is a online place to bet on him to be within the top 5 guys for double-double games, Id put around 500 on him. He'll average 12 and 10.

He'll put up 2009 Troy Murphy numbers for us (minus the threes).  Maybe somebody will trade us minor assets to acquire him as a 3rd big for their playoff push.

He's very similar to JJ Hickson, actually.  Start him at center every night and I think the results would be more or less the same.

Very similar to JJ, I think he's a better guy to have on the team, as his role as a 4 is much better on defense, but I agree in principal.

As a starting PF, he's probably the 20-30th best in the league, which is considerably below average.  As a first PF off the bench, he'd be a top 5 in the league.

As some have indicated, he'd be a great piece for a contender to acquire.

I think his role will be bigger than expected because we have 0 centers and he will have to play some or the other PFs on our team will have to play some.  We have a "logjam" at PF on this roster, but that logjam is going to be spread over 2 positions so I think they'll all get more minutes than expected.

Where'd you get that?

http://www.fantasysmacktalk.com/2012-2013-fantasy-basketball-power-forward-pf-rankings/

This is fantasy basketball so obviously players who put up empty numbers are favored.

But outside of the top 10, 15, it's a tossup.

Who's better between Glen Davis, old Boozer, Bargnani and Humphries? You can't really say. BBD is kind of a headcase who doesn't really board. Bargnani is soft and doesn't play D. Boozer doesn't play D at all.

Rankings are kind of completely crap like that. Top 10 lists...ugh. ESPN bullcrap. It's just easy journalism, especially when they make lists without numbers. Tiers of players makes a little more sense.

Plus Hump might be playing the 5 anyway. If he does what J.J. Hickson did, like IndeedProceed is saying, I'd be happy. If he played a little D.
