What happened to the pursuit of Greg Oden?

There was no point to getting him when we traded Pierce and KG. The Celtics are rebuilding with young players, not trying to get players with severe injury issues. Plus the Celtics have too many players and too much salary as it is. Greg Oden is not what teams consider a long term prospect, he's more a "let's hope he plays good for a full year before he gets hurt" kind of player.

This. Once we traded away KG and Paul then we didn't need him and he probably wouldn't want to come here.

I hope Danny didn't give up on Oden with tha signing of El Hombre Indestructible. I know he said he was monitoring Oden. Don't know if there was any real pursuit but I hope Oden is somewhere on Danny's list of potential signings.

I would love to have him here and I think if he's really looking good as reported and can stay healthy, he will be a great pick-up for this team in tha area we've desperately needed for multiple years now.

Oden only makes sense for a team that either doesn't care if he can contribute beyond the next couple of seasons or is willing to sign him to a longer, bigger deal if he does good on a short-term deal.

1.  That rumor never had a LEG to stand on.
2.  He doesn't really fill a (KNEE)d for us.

I thought we were still pursuing him after the legends were traded?
He had Celtics on his list (supposedly).
I actually think he would have had us high on the list after the rebuild but I think Eddie Lacerte and Danny have realized how broken he is.
He is the PERFECT signing for us while we're rebuilding because we could do a multi year deal and baby him back to health with Rondo throwing him lobs all night and as many minutes as he wants-no pressure on a young bum squad like ours. Similarly to how guys like Jordan Crawford have way less pressure on them this year than last year- that could be really good for them.
I'd say the gambler Danny saw something that worried him and thought he's completely cooked.
Couldn't really be anything else (in my opinion).

I think the comments were by his agent.   We probably brought him in and saw what was left there and balked.

Oden will probably pick a (semi) contender. I don't think Boston is an option for him.
