What happened to the pursuit of Greg Oden?

Perhaps I missed something over the last couple of months, but a couple of months ago, it was reported that the Celtics were on the short list of teams that Oden was interested in.  All of a sudden, there are more teams that he is working out for and the Celtics are not one of them.

Did our signing of Faverani negate any chance of signing Oden?  Why are we not giving this guy a chance?  Center is our weakest spot and it is probably worth a gamble.  He is working hard to get back to the game.

Maybe Brad Stevens wasn't interested so the team's pursuit of Oden evaporated when the new coach was hired.

I don't think there would have been pressure on Oden to start in Boston.  By judging Danny's moves, he probably would have wanted Oden to use a couple seasons to get acclimated to the organization before making a choice of pulling out all stops to become a contender again.

There was no point to getting him when we traded Pierce and KG. The Celtics are rebuilding with young players, not trying to get players with severe injury issues. Plus the Celtics have too many players and too much salary as it is. Greg Oden is not what teams consider a long term prospect, he's more a "let's hope he plays good for a full year before he gets hurt" kind of player.

I'm in the Oden camp. Wish we could take a flier on him for get min $. Just like we shoulda done with Blatche last year. More upside here. The dude finally got his year off to fully heal. He did the right thing after rushing back too soon multiple times ... on top of bad luck. Def worth a small gamble.

I wouldn't be surprised if he got paid more than Faverani.  Might not be much of a bargain.
