It's disappointing because they struck me as one of the teams that could most use Brandon Bass or Kris Humphries, although matching salary was going to be a problem.

I wouldn't call Scola a perimeter shooter. He's adequate in that regard, as he does most of his damage around the rim. I would call Copeland, who they signed, a perimeter threat.

the pacers need people who can score. Scola helps them put up more points on the board and he can pass pretty well too (which helps their 2nd unit i think). i think it's a solid trade for the pacers.

Good move by the Suns. They were overloaded at the PF spot with Channing Frye, Michael Beasley and the Morris brothers. Getting the old man (Scola) out of the way was the right move.

Surprised someone gave up a first round pick for Scola. Seems like an overpay for him at this late stage in his career. He will be a good backup PF for Indiana though. Not sure they weren't just better off keeping Hansbrough and their first rounder.

Maybe they had to give up the pick to get rid of G.Green's contract.

great move for both teams

The pacers are really going to have an upgraded bench this season. A semi healthy Granger to go along with Scola and Watson really has the potential to knock off the heat.

The suns are breaking things down and building up assets. I wonder where Gortat ends up? I personally like the idea of Gortat + Butler to Bobcats for Biyombo and Gordon. This would add another young player to Suns and give bobcats a chance to create a lesser version of the Randolph Gasol combo with big Al and Gortat. This would at least make bobcats interesting for once.

First, I think you're right about having to give up the #1 to get out from underneath Green's deal.

Overall, though, I don't think a late #1 is an overpay for Scola, if he solidifies the Pacers and gives them a greater chance at a title.  Championships are so rare that I think it's a good thing to maximize your chances when you're close.

Great move by the Pacers. Scola is a nice veteran pick up for a young team that made some nice strides in playoff experience this season.

Good move for the Suns too... They had no use for Scola in a rebuild and getting a late first rounder for him is a pretty good pick up.

The Gerald Green great american tour continues.

A first-rounder is an overpay and I don't really like Scola, but he does fit well with the team.
