I wonder how long til the other shoe, Gortat, drops. Probably not long, no matter what Phoenix is saying.

Safe to say Phoenix is joining the tank train with Philly and others.

The only way I see Mia making it out the East this season are if the other teams have injuries. No way Mia can get through 2-3 of Ind, Nets, NYKs, Chi, and one of the unknowns. Mia may get to the ECF but they will be too beaten up to get any further. They have barely escaped 2 seasons in a row against a conference of teams with their (best) players hurt or out. Mia will surely face 2 really good defensive teams in rnd 2 and 3. I hope Cleveland gets them in round 1, I don't see them beating them but I can see a tougher series than a usual round 1 is for Mia... if Bynum is healthy (major IF)! Mia has nothing for an excellent PG AND Big... add on how bad Clev wants to beat them (games in Clev), that would be something good to watch!

Good deal for the Pacers even though it's a slight overpay to me... I guess that's to rid themselves of Green.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

McDonough has the Ainge mindset:

Quote
Paul Flannery ‏@Pflanns 2h
Suns GM Ryan McDonough now has 3 first round picks in 2014. Two (from Minny and now Indy) are lottery protected.

Paul Flannery ‏@Pflanns 2h
If Pacers and Wolves make playoffs, McDonough can rebuild with 7 first rounders through 2015 including the two he used in 2013 and Bledsoe.

Will probably be able to add that once/if Gortat is traded.

Woj said on Twitter that talks had been going on for weeks but Phoenix was holding out for Plumlee.  Scola's under contract for the next two seasons and I think he would be willing to stick around if he likes the situation in Indy, so a protected pick seems like a fair deal.  Including Plumlee may be a bit of an overpay, but it depends on how the Pacers project his future contributions.

adding scola and a healthy Granger(as well as the added development of george) to this pacers team could be a move that Indiana over the top....and they already pushed Miami to 7 games last year...thats quite the big rotation offensively.i could see it looking like

1. Miami
2. pacers
3. Nets
4. Bulls/Knicks
5.Bulls/Knicks

those top 5 teams should be battling for positioning.

Miami should smoke whoever they get in the first round in 5 games tops.

If they get the Knicks in round 2, easy work for them. 5 games, maybe 6 if Carmelo is in characteristically efficient for a few games.

But yeah, Nets, Pacers and Bulls could all give them real trouble. I'd like to see Miami vs Indy or Bulls, then have the Nets waiting for them in the ECF.

I could see Nets and Heat finishing 1-2. Nets won 49 games after a bad start and have replaced Wallace, Humphries, Bogans, Brooks, and Watson with Pierce, KG, AK47, Terry, and Livingston. A 50-win team got significantly better at 4 different spots (don't think Livingston is much of an upgrade over Watson, if any). They could surpass 60 IMO.

If Nets have HCA against Heat and everyone else, they are going to the Finals.

Scola should fit right in there.  Too much expected upon him with the Suns.

The Pacers were already a top team in the West and somehow they got even better. Nice trade.

How fun will Beasley + Green be in Phoenix though?  :P

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Why can't we get this kind of deal for Bass? Two first round picks [if you include Plumlee] is a pretty steep price for a player like Scola at this point in his career. It's too bad Indy preferred Scola over Bass...

They couldn't match Bass' salary.
