Bass + Shav + Crawford for Perk + PJ3 + the Dallas 2014 pick
Why for the Celtics?
Give Bass the chance to compete and get minutes for KO&Sully
Take a chance on PJ3 as another young trade chip/prospect
The Dallas pick is top 20 protected until 2017, then unprotected in 2018 (we could have 2 lottery picks in 2018)
Taking on Perk's contract is bad, but he's a Celtic and a locker room leader.
Why for OKC?
Get rid of Perk's contract and get the best player in Bass
Take a chance on that crazy kid who can score, Crawford.
Save money from Shav's contract.
Start Bass/Ibaka, then use Collison with either one. Adams is a good prospect and could bring 5-10 minutes of good D, just like Perk.
That leaves the Cs with
Rondo/Bradley/Pressey
Lee/Brooks/Bogans
Green/Crash/PJ3(Red Claws)
Sully/Humphries/
KO/Perk/Faverani/Melo(Red Claws)
It also would mean the Cs need to cut some salary before the trade deadline, moving Humphries, Lee and/or Bogans expiring.
I had a very similar idea except it includes Houston. I don't see OKC making any trades that don't include Perkins heading in the opposite direction, but at the same time I can't see them moving Perk without getting a Center in return. The other thing is that Nick Collison is very similar to Bass in terms of playing style. So I think any deal has to include Perkins and Collison heading out of OKC so something like this could work:
BOS out:
Bass, Lee, Crawford, Randolph
BOS in:
Perkins, PJ3, Dallas 2014 pick (protected top 20 until 2018) and a 6.6 TPE
OKC out:
Perkins, Collins, Adams, PJ3 and Dallas pick
OKC in:
Asik, Bass, Lee
HOU out:
Asik
HOU in:
Collins, Adams, Crawford, Randolph
The major issue would be whether Houston would be willing to move Asik to their main competition in the West, but assuming that is a possibility I think it works for everyone.
OKC get a huge upgrade over Perkins with Asik, Bass fills in nicely for Collins and Lee is a solid 3 and D SG to help ease the loss of Martin. They give up a lot, but at the end of the day their roster looks pretty "complete".
HOU get Adams who is perfectly capable of filling in behind Howard, a job Asik was very overqualified for, Collins who should be a cheap/solid compliment to Howard's inside game, plus Crawford a solid spot up shooter for kick outs from Howard and Randolph.
BOS clear up a bit of the logjam currently at PF and fill a need with Perkins. Rondo is happy to have Perk back, but Olynyk also benefits by not needing to take minutes at the 5 and focus on developing as a stretch 4. For our troubles we get PJ3, the Dallas pick and a trade exception.
