That theme song says everything about him.

Put everything else aside, I don't think there is one player in the league that's as exciting and a joy to watch play the game of basketball like Rondo.  And I've heard non Celtic fans made claims like this as well.  Love the guy and can't wait for him to get back.

TP - I'm pretty jazzed just to watch this guy play with this team. I'd love to see him running with these young legs.

This is the worst argument about Rondo's effectiveness.  Guess what?  We had that record with Pierce, KG, Terry, Green, Lee and Bass also.  You know the difference?  Rondo was one of the best players in the league while every one else on the team was horrible.  If ANYONE else decided to show up to start the season we would've been one of the best teams in the league.

It's very simple.  When the teams record is bad, you don't blame the best player who is working his tail off.  You blame the players bricking open shots and showed up out of shape. 

When the team started winning without Rondo, Bradley was back, Terry, Lee, Green, Pierce and KG finally got back in shape and started making shots.  It has nothing to do with Rondo.

After rondo chased Ray Allen off, the dream was over for the season.  Ainge probably would of blow up the team the year before but he was counting on having Ray.

Rondo doesn't seem to be a chemistry guy.

  We finished the 2010 season going 27-27 over our final 54 games. Do you really think that team was going to do anything in the playoffs? How about the 2012 team that started the season 15-17? How do you think they did? Anyone who followed the team closely knows that the team goes through bad stretches during the season and that it doesn't affect our playoff prospects.

  Likewise, there were a large number of reasons we got off to a poor start last year that had nothing to do with Rondo. The people that understood this were warning everyone else about what was probably going to (and did) happen in the playoffs. Many of the people claiming we were better without Rondo because "our record shows it" *still* don't understand why the team had to fight tooth and nail to avoid being swept in the first round.

since the thread's discussion has shifted about cp3 vs rondo/best pg in the league.....i would throw my 2 cents in:

rondo is between the 3-5 pgs in the league.  cp3 and tony parker are better imo.  rondo, westbrook, dwill are all in the same ball park.  I would put drose ahead of them all, if he comes back healthy and plays at the same mvp -level as he did before he was hurt.

I'm one of the biggest Rondo fans out there but you can't possibly say he's the best PG in the league. He's definitely top 5, and I would go as far as saying he's top 3 right behind Chris Paul and Derrick Rose. But the best PG? No way.

Rondo is the best pg in the game in my book, or at least he's definitely in the conversation. Someone could argue about Parker or Rose though.

On the other hand, I believe Chris Paul is one of the most overrated players in the history of basketball. How many early playoff exits does one have to collect before people would start criticizing him?

Luckily people like Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd, Shaquille O'Neal and many others have my back, agreeing with me that Rondo is the best in the business.

Sad thing is that if this thread was posted on a Lakers, Miami or whatever blog, a lot more people would agree with the op. Sucks to be an athlete in Boston.
