If you're going to go after a likely restricted free agent, I'd go after Larry Sanders rather than Demarcus Cousins (pending how he plays this season).  You should also consider that Sanders plays for the Bucks, so there is a decent chance that they will be unwilling to match a huge contract and the Celtics will be able to manufacture the cap space to sign a max free agent.

A frontcourt of Larry Sanders (VCU) and Kelly Olynyk (Gonzaga) coached by Brad Stevens (Butler) could make the Celtics the NBA team of choice for fans of mid-major schools.  With Rondo, Bradley, Green, Sullinger, whoever the Celtics draft in 2014 and whoever doesn't get sent out to create cap space.  If at least some out of Brooks/Melo/Crawford/Iverson/Faverini pan out, that's a nice team with a lot of youth and the chance to reload with several extra draft picks in the pipeline.

Agreed. Most of what you say is pure gold.

Also, salivating at the thought of Gordon Hayward.

I'd like any one of Sanders, Cousins or Wall. The last one being the least likely.

The Celtics are not going to have the cap space to offer anybody a max deal.  Assuming they pick up Sullinger's option and bring back Avery on either the qualifying offer or a new deal, they should only have around 10 million if the salary cap rises to 61 million.  Wallace's contract ate up much of the projected cap space but given the draft picks they got and how they aren't going to be an attractive free agent destination anyway, it's not a big deal.

with cap holds, rookie contracts, etc. they will have a lot less than that.  Boston only will have at best 5 million in cap space, or essentially the MLE.  In other words, no cap space.

To me our biggest position of need is at Center, so Larry Sanders or DeMarcus Cousins would be my prime targets. I also am a huge fan of Gordon Hayward and Paul George (although both teams will probably match any offer). WIth us already having two big skilled big men it might not be a bad idea to bring Zach Randolph because he would fit with their skill sets.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Meh I don't think the class will be as exciting as most people. The only one I see moving on from his team is Melo. I think Bosh Wade and LeBron stay together.

The Utah Jazz received two two first-round picks and three second-round picks as compensation for absorbing the contracts of Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, and Brandon Rush.

It should take something less than that to find a team with cap space who would to be willing to accept a pure salary dump of the Brandon Bass (expiring) and Courtney Lee (not expiring), which would vault the Celtics from $5m (if that's what they have) in cap space to over $15m.

They could also offer the expiring contract of Bass and the unguaranteed contract of Bogans as trade ballast if they can get another team to agree to a sign-and-trade of a free agent.

If a max contract free agent wants to come to Boston, it shouldn't take more than two first-round picks, and might take less, to make that happen.
