The Kings are looking for a small forward, having chased after Andre Iguadala.  The Kings were looking after a chucker guard in Monta Ellis.  They seemed to be willing to amnesty John Salmons to create cap space.  They've reportedly been shopping Hayes for the same purpose.

Gerald Wallace is a name player that new ownership desperate to male a splash might gamble on regaining his previous level as a consolation prize after whiffing on several free agents.

The Celtics dump the long-term deal for Gerald Wallace while taking on two veterans who will be paid more next season on shorter contracts.  Salmons upgrades the bench three-point shooting.  The Celtics also get a center who can eat up minutes or rot on the bench, depending on the progress of other players.

You can also consider sending Fab Melo to the Kings as a replacement center and getting back Jimmer Fredette as a backup point guard who can hit a three as part of the deal.

The Celtics may include the Nets' 21014 pick to lubricate the deal.

I don't think the Kings do the deal.  They'd probably be more open to it if Salmons was fully guaranteed and not someone they could amnesty, but this is what I got in trying to come up with a realistic Wallace trade.

I would say we can't give up the Net pick in a deal like that.  I'd rather keep
Wallace and keep that pick.

1.  That pick could turn be a major stud of a player.
2.  The pick can be combined with our own if Danny wants to move from something like
pick 8 to pick 4 or 5.

Given how much the Nets will rest Paul and KG during the regular season I'm guessing the Nets pick will be between 23 and 26.  Gonna be lots of nice choices there.

I've always liked Chuck Hayes...

Bad trade for us.

Yeah Salmons is better than Wallace right now, but contract bundled up with Hayes is worse, more money same years.

Melo for Fredette isn't bad, could use an out side shooter, with Randolph,Iverson, and at times KO playing the C we don't need Melo as much as an out side shooter.

But in no way would you give up a 2014 for Salmons and a SG sized PF. Even a late pick is still not worth it. Especially when SAC is getting the better deal contract years wise.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Let's not trade draft picks.

I do love Jimmer, though. Great back-up point guard prospect, especially for Rondo.

If Sac-town were to accept Wallace/Brooks/Melo for Salmons/Hayes/Fredette, I'd jump on it, though. We literally have no pure shooters on our team (closest being Olynyk).
I like Marcus Smart

Yeah Salmons is better than Wallace right now, but contract bundled up with Hayes is worse, more money same years.

Salmons makes $7.6m this season and $7m the season after that, but only $1m is guaranteed.  The Celtics would be shaving $10m off of future guaranteed salary.  Since Wallace is signed for a year beyond Hayes and Salmons, that is like shaving off the last $10m year of his contract.

I'm not sure if that is worth Brooks and a likely late first.  It would definitely be worth just Brooks.  Is there a middle ground between the two that would be acceptable?

I think there is enough merit to the idea to have some negotiations, but an actual deal may be tough to hammer out.

If you'd jump on it, Sacramento will probably want more.  I could see the Kings asking for a first and Ainge trying to negotiate for less.

I wouldn't include a pick but I'd do the deal proposed in the thread title
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.
