I'm still trying to understand why Danny repeatedly and insistently introduced KO to Boston as not a 'go-to' guy.
Trying to manage expectations? Maybe Danny saw what McHale saw in Olynyk's college play and underrated him, himself?  Maybe Danny is right and Kelly won't be a "go to guy" and *we're* reading way too much into 5 Summer League games?

thanks for the video.

That just strengthens my prediction that we just drafted one of the 2013-2014 rookie of the year winner this year.(Oliadipo, Olynyk and Mcollum)

Guys like Zeller, Porter, Muhammad, Dieng, CaldWell-pope, Adams have been much or less not impressive/rookie like.

With the crowed going nuts, super stress, you make two clutch shots?? Thats fantastic.

Like the way he was pretty much running the team. He was directing guys, talking, looking at his coach. Sullinger is exactly like this also. We are going to have two really bright players upfront since a long while. Last time i remember such combo is PJ Brown and KG. And a really long time, i remember such upfront combo in Mchale and Bird. Not the most quick/athletic guys but got the job done

yikes unfortunately, i don't think we got a guy like that in our team. Olynyk a possibility

But i don't think i remember alot of less than 10 sec buckets for the tie or win from anyone on our team now. Jeff Green did have a few last year but i'm not sure he can do it consistently.

Still at a much different level than the NBA, so time will tell.

But steal of the draft? Sure is looking like it at this point.

Nicely done, Danny.

Half the bench warmers in the NBA were "clutch" in college. There are guys who never make the NBA who were "clutch" in college.

This surprised me:

Quote
KO did not seem one bit phased in SL play

Why would he? It is summer league!

Am I missing the sarcasm?

bare in mind, he was raised, taught, and coached to play point guard, until he was 17 when he grew a foot.  I am sure he practiced and was taught a lot about shooting from the outside, dribbling, calling out plays, setting players up and passing.  He is relatively new at being 7ft. and things like boxing out, and inside play, even playing 5 ft from the basket.  He has a much different mind set then the typical big.  He will naturally get better as he gets real comfortable with it.  So, we have a 7 ft point guard, raised by a coach, getting used to his new body, and being the big kid on the court.  Interesting.  I like it.   He plays a much different game. He is what... a point center.  Cool.  He sure does have a lot of options when he has the ball.

Just noticed how he's one of those oversized wing type players like Gallo in high school.

Also just saw summer league highlights of him running the 4/5 pick and roll as a 7 footer.

Just watched this game from beginning to the end. Some notes:

- Olynyk didn't even start the game
- The clutch shots he made at the end of the game were pretty amazing but during this game vs the summer league games we saw him play, he is night and day better
- It could bc of the nba space he has to work with or he just improved that much from this game until recent
- He was slower, got pushed around alot more, and even less explosive if you can believe it
- So with this said, he still has room to improve his body + his raw skills to become a much better player.

Good observations

He red shirted to work on precisely that:

Anybody noticed that he wears #13 in high school and he got drafted #13 overall?  Just saying, it looks like it was meant to be.  LOL   ;D

Even if he only turns into a poor man's Dirk, I'd gladly take that at that draft position.  I expect when he hits his peak he'll be something like an 18/5/3 player, pts, rebounds, assists.  Considering that he's a 7 footer too that's pretty darn good.  Easily a 2nd or 3rd scoring option on a contending team.

Now let's put Wiggins together with him and have us a Canadian led renaissance!  LOL
