if your not rooting for the cletics, you're not a celtics fan, period.

1.  You know the rules on this, DL; and

2.  We'll see where people are in March and April, I guess.

I root for the name in front of the jersey, not the back.

Word.

Celtics every day. Why is this even a question? Root for PP and KG to have great seasons and games but if they're playing the Cs, i hope they miss every single shot they attempt

I can't believe that there are actually 9 people who picked the Nets.  I hate bandwagon jumpers.

If in the trade would be included Rondo can you predict how many members of this forum will root for CSKA Brooklyn? Can you predict the results of poll? 90% rooting for CSKA Brooklyn... :P

I root for the Celtics. Everyone else is the enemy.

I also root for whomever is playing against the Heat or Lakers.

What if the Celtics losing on the last day of the season would cause the team they are playing to beat out the Lakers for the final playoff spot in the West or would cause the Heat to be the 2nd seed and not have home-court advantage in the Eastern Conference finals?

I can accept wanting the Celtics to lose in those scenarios more than I can accept rooting for the Celtics to tank and lose all season long.

I've been a Crltics fan since 1972 and I have never once rooted against the Boston Celtics.   In 2006 or 1979 or any other year we struggled, when loses were mounting and wins could hurt draft position I never once rooted for the Celtics to lose a single game.   It's just not going to happen. That's me. I don't expect anyone else to agree.

I'm for the younger ones to get 1, nay 4 over the former ones. What brooklyn gets done the rest of the year, aside from what is against the Knicks or the Heat, I'm not concerned about.

it depends on the context

If the Cs are tanking and Brooklyn needed the win to get home court advantage over Miami then I will root for Nets to win but I will not cheer them on.

Very Nice.

I was once offered my friends job which would have meant he had no job. Big raise everything. I refused. I went and told him with pride and he said "Dude, if it were me I would have taken your job" I appreciated the honesty but realized for one of the 1st times in my life that I'm not like some. Not better but different.

The talk about we'll see in March or April or if this team needs that seed or if a loss will get us a better chance at a ping pong ball makes no sense. In March I will Cheer for the Celtics. If we could aid another team w/P.P and K.G. by losing...I'll still cheer for the Celtics. This isn't a situation thing. Outside forces don't change the fan in me.
I read some comments in here about "if"_____ I would _____ ...hypothetical events that would push a pause button on loving your team. I'm just not getting the point of following a team and not supporting them forever.

I am a Red Sox fan and before 2004 they must have lost 80% of the games I attended. I got signed baseballs by Tony Perez and Yaz and Jim Rice. They were sometimes good but always broke your heart I'm running my own business in Japan and doing much better than the friend who would have done me wrong. He has a boss still and I do not.

As 2004 began to unfold and the comeback against the Yanks was developing I was following from here in Japan and I watched the series on the ESPN thing that was ridiculous. It was like an Atari game with a blip on a base and delays in updates and acouple times I thought we were out of it and the dream wasn't coming true just to see an update that showed me it was....still..alive. I stayed up till all hours of the night waiting for the screen to update the strike count. Not until the W.S. did I find a plate cam which was me watching the pitcher and nothing else but it was awesome.
My step dad had a friend who was an usher. He got me the signed balls that were hit foul and then signed. A Royal named Fred Pawtek (?) hit 3 HR in Fenway in a game and I got a F.B. that was signed by him but it's faded away now. We went all the time and I remembered that when reading Simmons day by day pieces about him and his dad going crazy. I'm looking at a commemorative bat and other stuff my stepdad sent me after the win. Besides that time we have never spoken. It was a big deal. I was there when they were crap and I never thought about ...it never dawned on me to root against them. The Celts were easy to watch when the crushed everybody. Now they won't be. And? So what. You stay strong and stick to Celtic because when they do return to glory you will be ecstatic. You simply can't appreciate the good if you don't know the bad. You get a lot of one and it makes the little of the other that much more special.

I'm hoping KG, Pierce, and Williams are all on the IR before the all-star game so we get a good pick next year

im not questioning anyone's "fandom" or anything.  not labeling anyone either, which are against the rules.  the reality is, if your a celtics fan, why would u ever root for your team to lose?  paul pierce is my guy and will forever be my favorite player, but if i were to root for the nets to beat the celts, i wouldn't be a celtics fan, i would be a pierce fan more than a celtics fan.  thats the logic behind my post.
