Whatever, forget the post - not worth it.

Happy to see KG and pierce in Brooklyn uniforms, can't wait to root for them and hope they raise a title - wouldn't be surprised if they're thrilled to be in Brooklyn as well.

 ::)

You wanted folks to play along with a hypothetical certainly fictitious conversation ??? Where's Waldo?..I mean Doc. K.G. was obviously planning on heading out West in that mess. Paul getting that heart to heart is believable but K.G. came as a hired gun in the original version of the "Big 3" that inspired Miami and everyone else. K.G. is my favorite player ever but he got paid very well and was given one of the few no trade clauses in the league. Danny most certainly would not have had to absorb an equal amount of salary as he sent out were it not for his hands being tied by that and having to send them together.

We took G Wallace back which is among the leagues worst deals. We cannot get serious breathing room under the cap because we had to take what we could. Most outside observers know we got as lightly shafted as we could but that's it. Sent to HOF'S together with a chance at contending. Can you do them a better solid? The Celtics were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Paul's PTE or  K.G. being traded at the deadline to teams really needing them right then woulda netted much better deals or financial relief. But K.G. had the N.T clause and Doc's  near 3 week Circus stole precious time and made the Celts look like a mess. That's why Doc sits in my sig forever.

Your fantasy script just reminds me how bad we have been reamed.

Thanks 4 that.

I have to strongly disagree with his comment. We did not get reemed, as you put it, we got a heck of a deal for an overrated coach who didn't want to rebuild and two players on the verge of retirement. I can't believe we actually managed to acquire a ton of first round picks, those assets are huge in our long term rebuilding process. As for Wallace's deal, we never planned on being players in the free agent market this summer, I don't see your point. His deal comes off the books at the time we should be ready to make some major moves, and his contract as an expiring together win our young players and picks will net us a superstar. Ainge did this before, it's a proven enough formula.

As for Pierce and KG, I figure they had mixed emotions like most of us, but now are moving on and see the high upside to this trade for them. They don't hav to carry the team, but have a legit shot to beat Miami this year, with a better pg, center , sg, and bench than they had last year. Kidd will be a good coach as well. I see his nets team like the old guys at the local YMCA who pound he hell out of teams and always win, and when they get a young guy or two who know what they are doing on their side, they are unbeatable.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
They get to play with a better point guard, better shooting guard, better center and better bench.  What's not to like ?

We traded Rondo for D-Will?

Williams has been the most overrated player in the NBA for a few years now.

+1

His coaches also seem to lose their jobs or resign and he always seems to be in the middle of it.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

TP - Williams is a good player, but Rondo is certainly the superior pg, especially with so many offensive options on the Nets. I am sure they will be successful and he will get a lot of praise, but give me Rondo every time.

He's certainly spent the last couple years coasting. A motivated Deron Williams was in the conversation for best point guard in the league, but that was three or four years ago, and I don't know if he can play at that level any more.

The First conversation probably included Doc and the Destination was the Clippers...Stern killed that---so Brooklyn was plan B.

I'd take 2013-14 Deron Williams over 2013-14 Rajon Rondo.   Who knows what Post-ACL Rondo will even look like... if he plays at all.

Deron's post-allstar numbers last year:  23 points, 8 assists, 1 steal, 48%/42%/87% in only 36 minutes.

Rondo's post-allstar numbers last year:  0 points, 0 assists, 0 steals 0%/0%/0% in 0 minutes.

Easy choice.

Really though, Deron Williams is a far superior offensive player to Rajon Rondo.  He doesn't rebound as much, but I don't judge my point guards by how well they rebound.  That's what the two 7 footers are for.

Their assist-to-turnover ratio is just about even.  Rondo averages more assists, but I've brought this up before... If Deron is averaging 23 points and 8 assists isn't he basically responsible for 39 points per game minimum?   If Rondo is averaing 14 points and 11 assists, doesn't that make him responsible for 36 points per game?  Which is better?  The Nets were a better team even without KG and Pierce.

Across the board, the Nets have better talent for KG and Pierce to play with.  KG and Pierce should enjoy having a shot at a title.

Post an obvious, strange mistake and then get angry when people say "what are you talking about?"

I'm working on my "HARTFORD CELTICS MIGHT NOT BE AS BAD AS PEOPLE THINK" thread right now, let's see how people respond.

Some posters just understood the mistake and simply commented their thoughts on the main point of the post.

I wasn't angry. It was a sarcastic comment and I just found it odd that that was the only comment - as if I didn't know it was Brooklyn - so I responded the same way. If there was any other constructive or interesting comment along with it I would have responded differently.

I thought the guy was saying Jersey doesn't exist because he can't root for KG & Pierce now.

Posters thoughts on what they felt KG & Pierce's feelings might be on going to Brooklyn as a reply would have been interesting.

We can keep banging on the Brooklyn / Jersey miscue if needed, but don't see how it really matters.

I was definitely being sarcastic.  I just found it odd that you used both Jersey and Brooklyn in your post, but used Jersey far more.

I also find it odd that you have fixed the mistake.  It just looks bad.

Yeah no worries. I fixed the mistake because it seemed people were quite focused on it. It doesn't look bad - I would think everyone is greatly relieved that the heinous crime has been solved and corrected.

To be honest I still call them Jersey out of habit a lot. Jersey / Brooklyn, whatever... we all know they're Brooklyn...

It was ultimately a post more about Pierce and KG anyway -

I know Green isn't a SG, but I would take Rondo and Green over Deron and Johnson. Their center and bench are far, far superior, though..the Nets were surprisingly very reliant on Lopez. I guess it isn't THAT much of a surprise, but you'd think the Nets would struggle more without Deron. When Lopez was out, the Nets hit the ground crashing. They were bad. He's by far the biggest reason for separation between the Celtics and Nets records last season (along with Rondo's injury).

If we had a guy like Lopez, I think we would have killed Miami in 2012 and dome extremely well this past season (without Rondo injury). Anyway..yeah the Nets are good..really good.

Well, I'm not too particularly fond of most New Yorkers. There's that.
I'll take them over Bostonians any day.
