Do you guys think that Danny has something planned for today once the KG/PP/JT trade becomes official?  Does he have something planned to immediately flip some of the inbound players elsewhere?

I don't think that today is going to be pleasant once the trade is finalised (I'm assuming there'll be a Nets presser to avoid) so I'm hoping that there's a "didn't see that coming" like the Brad Stevens hire ..
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

I doubt it. There is really no free agents right now that we are gonna try to clear cap space to go after. Unless a trade with Rondo + Nets pieces happens, there's no reason to do it.

Ainge's best hand to play is to keep these guys to the deadline and hope Humphries and Gerald Wallace play out of their mind to up their trade value to contenders and fringe playoff teams.

The roster is

Rondo
Pressey
Bogans
Bradley
Crawford
Lee
Brooks
Green
Wallace
Bass
Humphries
Sullinger
Melo
Iverson
Olynyk
Joseph
Randolph
White

That's 18 players. The only deadline before the start of camp is August 1st for the non-guaranteed contracts of Kris Joseph, Shav Randolph and DJ White. If they are on the roster after August 1st, that's $3 million the Celtics owe out.

So my guess is they will be gone in either a trade with someone else or they will be cut before then. Other than that, the Celtics might be done dealing for the year unless Danny can move a player and a pick or picks to unload some of the long term salary for expiring contracts or cap space.

Well I won't be surprised if Bass was gone days ago for picks and or expiring, waiting for the nets trade. Crawford might be the same.
It would be logical if Lee stay for the moment.

I don't know about today, but I think more moves will be made before camp opens.

DA has said several times that his work is not done.

Not sure it will happen today (although I could definitely see them work it into the Nets trade), but I expect at least a couple more minor trades, sooner rather than later.

Yikes, seeing that list all together...what a mish-mash.

By my reckoning we have one guy on the roster who is indisputably an above-average NBA starter, and he is currently rehabbing a torn ACL.

I sure hope so. Im really biting at the bit to see what DA is planning.

Is it full blown rebuild blowing every thing up including the foundation, and going full tank. Or is it strip down to the building blocks (Rondo,Sully,KO,Green) and building off of that. Maybe making the playoffs this year.

I think at a minimum, those 3 are cut before August.  that's the easy roster fix to get to 15 and save $.

I think you missed that Brazilian center they're chasing and I wouldn't be surprised if that Mitchell kid from summer league gets a camp invite.

I would think DA will look to move Brooks, Crawford, Bass, Melo, Bogans and/or Humphries before camp though.  Probably for some future second rounders to free up spots for more-serviceable players signed to vet min deals as injury insurance for the young players that will hopefully be getting some court time.

Hopefully, DA will offload either Bass or Lee today.  And Crawford too.  DJ White and K-Jo shouldn't be signing any leases.  I though Ainge was high on Shav.

Bogans can't be traded before January 15 because he was received in a sign-and-trade.

The move I most expect is for Brooks or Crawford to be moved with cash for a protected second-round pick to free up money under the luxury tax threshold for the Celtics to sign international center Vitor Faverani.

Melo, I think, gets his team option for 2014-2015 picked up in October, and he'll be given at least half a season to show he has value.

Lee was a guy recruited by Doc.  I'm not sure if Ainge likes his, but I expect more effort to move him now than to move Bass.

If available, a pure salary dump of Humphries, cash, and a second to Utah for the smaller expiring contract of Andris Biedrins makes sense to me.

I don't know about today, but before the season begins I expect either or both of Lee and Bass to be playing on another team.  Probably sent away for little more than second round picks and perhaps an expiring or two.
