We don't want these guys. Both overpaid chumps who will win all the games we don't want to win but none of the games we do wanna win. 7th or 8th seed. Almost like replacing Pierce and KG but they're both worse players overall.
Trades like this are the key to mediocrity. No true star and long contracts.
If you don't mind me asking, exactly who do you have in mind when you say "true star"?
I only ask because I notice this line of thinking is mentioned quite often.
So, if Ellis or Dalembert don't fit the bill, I am just wondering who or what fits the mold of a "true star."
a true star is Wiggins, jabari parker, james harden
we're talking legit stars, not ball chuckers and jokes on overpaid contracts
we'd become the pistons if we signed the josh smiths and the monta ellis' of the world.
Wiggins and Jabari Parker??? These guys haven't played a second of NBA game-action!!
And then that leaves James Harden, who I agree is a star.
But....is that it?
So right now, James Harden is the only true star in the NBA?
If so, then why are we following basketball?(lol)
Finally, Ellis averages 19 points per game. I really don't think that constitutes as him being a joke.
Now if the assertion is that he's a ball-hog, that's a different story.
I mean they're okay players but I think you need a legit superstar in place and these guys are like the finishing pieces to a top 8 team.
I just look at a guy like Ellis and how much offense he uses to get those 19 points and he just kills the teams overall production. I think he's a great player but not what we need right now. He'd be a good fit on a contender ( I think the Bulls were going after him?) where they have a few All Stars+ a franchise guy in Rose- they just need one more piece like Ellis and his scoring to help get them past Miami.
Dalambert is not as bad for our tanking attempt but I'd rather let a real young guy develop and ensure we lose an extra few games.
You're right though, it's very hard to get a superstar in the NBA at the moment. Ellis is one of those 3rd tier stars- he's not a franchise player and he's not an all star. He's like Jeff Green.
You're never winning a championship with him as your top scorer. (in my opinion).
I'd say we'd be better off in the long run just tanking and praying for Wiggins or Parker while we wait for the 2015 free agency class because unfortunately in all sports with a salary cap, you will always have up and down, winning and losing periods of suffering and losing. I guess that makes the 5-8 years of contending that much sweeter.
