I think adding Monta and Dalembert to this team would be perfect.

Ellis would provide us much needed scoring and Dalembert would provide us a much needed center.

If we do end up getting a 7.5 million TE from the Brooklyn trade, I wonder if we could package that along with a couple other players the Bucks would want?

In return we would get Ellis and Dalembert in a sign and trade.

I think a lineup of Rondo/Bradley, Ellis/Brooks/Bogans, Green/Wallace, Sully/Olynyk/Humph and Dalembert would be a pretty good team.

Maybe Milwaukee would take Lee and Bass of our hands?

I'd rather have Henson or Sanders.

I would love to have Sanders. But something tells me he's not available.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
We don't want these guys. Both overpaid chumps who will win all the games we don't want to win but none of the games we do wanna win. 7th or 8th seed. Almost like replacing Pierce and KG but they're both worse players overall.

Trades like this are the key to mediocrity. No true star and long contracts.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

If you don't mind me asking, exactly who do you have in mind when you say "true star"?

I only ask because I notice this line of thinking is mentioned quite often.

So, if Ellis or Dalembert don't fit the bill, I am just wondering who or what fits the mold of a "true star."

a true star is Wiggins, jabari parker, james harden

we're talking legit stars, not ball chuckers and jokes on overpaid contracts

we'd become the pistons if we signed the josh smiths and the monta ellis' of the world.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
There's a reason Monta Ellis is still sitting on the market rigth now. He's an inefficient chucker who struggles to buy into any sort of team concept.  He's exactly the type of player you don't want during a rebuild. This is the same guy who threw a tantrum when the Warriors drafted Steph Curry... He's played for 2 teams during his career and both fanbases seem to be happy he's gone.

Dalembert is an okay player,  would've made much more sense to bring him in a year or two ago to play next to KG. Now, not so much.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Wiggins and Jabari Parker??? These guys haven't played a second of NBA game-action!!

And then that leaves James Harden, who I agree is a star.

But....is that it?

So right now, James Harden is the only true star in the NBA?

If so, then why are we following basketball?(lol)

Finally, Ellis averages 19 points per game. I really don't think that constitutes as him being a joke.

Now if the assertion is that he's a ball-hog, that's a different story.

While not all good players are "true stars", all "true stars" are good players.  Monta Ellis is not a good player.  Monta Ellis is the kind of player who fools idiots who think ppg is the most important stat in determining who is a good player.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
I'm higher on Ellis than others (he helped win my fantasy basketball league  ;D), but let's be honest. Even though I think he's underrated, he's not the type of player we should ever, ever even look into if we are trying to rebuild our team.

He'd excel in a Jason Terry/Jamal Crawford role on a contender. That's the most you could hope for.

He's not a bad player by any means, but he's grossly inefficient and for every magnificent crossover and finish he makes, he chucks up 3 or 4 bad attempts.

The Bucks changed their scheme in the last portion of the season, though, and suddenly, Ellis was scoring closer to the 48% range. He's also a pretty fun passer and a decent post up player. That's pretty good. He's a fun player to watch, that's for sure.

He's so fluid at scoring. That being said, he's a basketball player who you should appreciate, but never desire. His intangibles - man to man defense, decision making, and shot selection are poor.
I like Marcus Smart

Might be best to think of it this way:

You could have 15 Monta Ellis style players on your roster and you still aren't a contender.

You have Harden and Dwight and you ARE a contender.

Parker and Wiggins have a decent/high chance to get to that top 10 players in the NBA level. Ellis will never get there.

You can't win with the 50th, 51st, 52nd 53rd and 54th players in the NBA as your top 4 guys.

You CAN contend with 2 top 10 guys and a bunch of role players.

Monta Ellis is cut in the same mold as Allen Iverson (tho with lesser talent); He needs the ball to be effective.

Volume shooting guard - think Kobe Bryant style (he'll just give another kobe assist to his team mates if his shots miss);
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;
