I wonder what he thought the C's were going to accept back in return.

Nothing.

There's nothing realistic on that roster that's worth getting in return for Rondo.

Don't agree. I would take a package of Felton and Shumpert for Rondo. I would also do Rondo/Bass for Chandler/Felton/Shumpert.

Rondo is being overvalued here, IMO.  Also, was I the only one impressed with how well Felton and Shumpert played vs us in the playoffs this year?
Rondo may be overvalued, there is absolutely, definitely, positively no way that Felton and Shumpert are anything close to equal value for him.

Well, that's your opinion. My opinion states otherwise. There is nothing there to convince me that Rondo is better than those two players combined.

I think Felton is a decent player and Shumpert is only getting better. Especially when you add in the hypothetical of, what if Rondo is not the same player when he comes back?

Shumpert interests me, adding Felton is a complete turnoff.

Bargnani for Rondo isn't a bad deal, if Boston is committed to tank next season.  Other than that...Rondo for Amare if New York throws in $20 million to cover half of Amare's remaining contract?  Again, only if Boston is going to tank.

Mike

Celtics fan base has officially jumped the shark....AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL...in any language. Amare for Rondo? Or Bargs? If you want to be in cap hell for the next 3-4 years then sure make a deal for the worst contract in the NBA

Agreed.  Felton/Shumpert would be an awful return for Rondo.  Most of Celtic Nation would be headed to the Tobin Bridge.

We have now 20 players onsite. Trade 1 good player for 2-3 not-so-good players increases the pack to 21-22. Our direction better would be inverse - to trade couple of mediocre players for 1 good.

What would we do with Shumpert? We already have Bradley.

I like Bradley, but Shumpert is 6'5" and Bradley 6'2".

I would do Rondo, Bass and Lee for Felton, Shumpert and Chandler, all day!

PG-Felton
SG-Shumpert
SF-Green/Wallace
PF-Sully/Humph/Olynyk
C-Chandler

with Bradley, Brooks, Bogans and Colton Iverson coming off the bench. I'll take that team, anyday!

Cut Jordan Crawford and trim whatever fat you need to trim.

The quantity of players is not really a concern. Come when the time is right, you just give the guys who you don't think are NBA ready the boot. Pretty simple. And from watching Summer League, Fab Melo is NOT NBA ready.

If the Knicks would take him a in trade for Spike Lee, then I'd be all for it ;D

I'm a big fan of Bradley, but his lack of size or ability to contribute at all on offense is annoying. Shumpert can guard 2's and 3's and shot a really high 3pt% last year.

That being said, he's just an athletic 3 and D wing and Felton is mediocre.

Maybe they're overvalued because they played their best ball against Boston in the playoffs.

Shumpert had the same surgery Rondo had. He intrigues you with the injured knee but Rondo may not come back the same? Seems hypocritical to me.

It's a fair point. I actually didn't realize Shumpert had ACL surgery. However, wasn't that before last season? Because if so, he looked pretty healthy this past season.

I would think if there were going to be after effects, he would've felt them this season.

G - Rondo
G - Shumpert
F - Melo
F - Bargnani
C - Tyson

Rondo would be incredible on that Knicks team. Mouthwatering lineup.

I have been cruising these boards since 06' and the bolded may be the single most ridiculous thing I have ever read.

I agree...

That has got to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard... I'd expect that from a few bloggers here who are very pessimistic against Rondo.

Rondo is a star point guard. Shumpert has the ceiling of being a better Tony Allen, in terms of defense, and being able to drive while having the upper hand on shooting 3 pt. But Felton is a fat mediocre, and starting point guard on any average team that lacks a good PG in the first place.

If Melo wants Rondo, he should take his talents to Boston..

Melo reminds me of Paul Pierce, but Paul played with more heart.
