My god, this is getting nuts. Its summer league. He's looked pretty good. Honestly, if he was averaging even 2/3rds of 19/8 I would be pretty happy.   Call it 13/6... solid role player on a good team... very satisfied with that, I think...

Comparisons to Dirk and Tim Duncan... i'm a bit speechless. He's never ever going to be close to that category.

Yeah, that's basically how I feel.  I'm excited that he's looked good, but I'm not projecting future all-star games yet.  Part of me thinks that he should be at least as good as Ryan Anderson, and the other part remembers that this is summer league, where Marcus Banks dominated.

I am a huge Olynyk guy, I advocated for him before the draft and was happy when they got him. That being said, I think 19/8 might be a tad aggressive, especially if our team gets better and there are less shots for him to take.

A previous poster posted 15/6, which would probably make him a top five player to come out of this draft. I think this is likely and I would be very happy if that's what we got.

On a separate note, I expect him to go for 30 at least once this year, but that will be as ancillary scorer. If they run the offense through him and coaches game plan to stop him he won't be lighting it up, but as a second option hitting 3's off penetration he will be extremely good.

People were saying he was a bum when he was drafted, now they are putting him in the hall of fame after two summer league games, the truth about his game is somewhere in between.

Was just watching NBA Gametime on NBATV. Mitchell was raving about Olynyk , and how he already has great shooting ability and footwork. He said you can tell his dad was a coach because he has such a high BBIQ. Mitchell also said "I'm telling you right now, in a few years when his body matures KO is going to be a 18 or 19 ppg scorer while pulling down 8 or 9 rebounds a game ".

Just thought it was interesting to hear from a former NBA player that isn't drinking the green kool-aid .

Is he sure it's not going toi be 19 or 20 points and 7 or 8 rebounds? :-D

If he ends up being similar to Channing Frye or Charlie Villanueva from their best years, I think we should be happy. But I won't be complaining if he catches lightning in a bottle and becomes the second coming of Dirk We're due to catch a draft break for the first time after Rondo, aren't we?

Kelly has definitly looked good. Showed some very versitle moves inside and outside. Really has shown a bit of everything. But alot of people need to take a slight step
back and realize the quality of big men that he's playing against. I will hold judgement till he goes against some NBA talent. In the division alone he will have to go up against the likes of KG Lopez Chandler Noel. All athletic bigs who are seasoned shot blockers and defenders. When I see his game flourish against the likes of that I will truely buy in. None the less tho exciting few days from KO

Just posted almost the same exact hing in another thread. The guys he has gone up against so far have been a joke. That said, he has the complete package on offense. The big question to me is will some of those cute inside moves be quick enough to succeed against real NBA players.

Competition aside, lets appreciate the guys skill set. He obviously can play the game and has shown that in the summer league so far. Doesn't matter who he has played, he's still gotta go out & perform & he's done just that.

Too many people on here just want to look for blemishes, instead of appreciating what a rook is bringing on the first week of the job. He's got the skill set to develop into one fine NBA player, bottom line. Now he's just got to put in the work year after year to accomplish that.

I honestly can't help wondering how much of the sarcasm / skepticism people have for Kelly Olynyk is a result of his haircut and skin color.  The "goofy white stiff" and Adam Morrison jokes are too easy to make.

My skepticism is based around the fact that he has not yet played real competition. He clearly is highly skilled. As an older guy, I remember past Celtics of this skin tone being pretty good.

Adam Morrison was goofy and white, but decidedly not a stiff. His offensive game didn't translate to the NBA, and he had little else to offer to a team.

The parallels are easy to make not because Olynyk is goofy or white, but because, based on what we've seen from him in college, the situation is quite the same.

So far Olynyk has looked great, but until he can prove that his moves will work against the Tyson Chandlers of the world in the same way that they work against NBDL guys, there'll be a doubt lingering -- and the main reason for this is that should those moves prove dramatically ineffective, Olynyk won't exactly make an NBA roster with his defensive or rebounding prowess.

Olynk is more likely to work out because of his position/size than Morrison in my view. But yeah if he's a bust it'll be for the same reasons.

Danny has been fairly clear in saying he doesn't see Olynyk going up against the power centers of the league at least until he's got some more age and muscle on him.
