If hard work and a good big man coach eventually make Olynyk the most fundamentally sound Celtic in recent years when it comes to things like boxing out, how many rebounds would you expect?

7 at most IMO

I'd be happy with 15/7 in a few years.

If he's real nice to Sully, I'm sure he'll let him have 8-9 rebounds.  As long as he doesn't upset Rondo, he will get 20 points as well.  I hope he makes real good PBJs.  :)

I'd be happy with something like 17 and 7 at the power forward position on solid shooting percentages.

Right now my hope is he can be something like a 7 foot Ryan Anderson with post moves and some ball handling / passing ability.

He'd be a really nice player if that were the case.

And just so we all are on the same page with ryan anderson: He averaged 21.1/9.9 with .490/.410/.869 splits in the PAC-10 for Cal.

So . . . they were comparably productive / dominant in college.

Kelly has definitly looked good. Showed some very versitle moves inside and outside. Really has shown a bit of everything. But alot of people need to take a slight step
back and realize the quality of big men that he's playing against. I will hold judgement till he goes against some NBA talent. In the division alone he will have to go up against the likes of KG Lopez Chandler Noel. All athletic bigs who are seasoned shot blockers and defenders. When I see his game flourish against the likes of that I will truely buy in. None the less tho exciting few days from KO

Just posted almost the same exact hing in another thread. The guys he has gone up against so far have been a joke. That said, he has the complete package on offense. The big question to me is will some of those cute inside moves be quick enough to succeed against real NBA players.

While Olynyk is playing some inferior players, although O'Quinn and Nicholson are legit NBA players, Olynyk is also not playing with a single guy who looks like they could ever start an NBA game.

In fact, just Pressey and Mitchell look like they could possibly develop into rotation guys.  I'm sorry but I just don't see Iverson making it, and Fab...he looks so incredibly slow and unexplosive.  Nobody else on that team ever sniffs the NBA.  I doubt they ever even get a camp invite.

Bill Parcells used to have a great saying when a player looked good in the summer, something like - Let's not sculpt his Hall of Fame bust just yet.

Sam Mitchell comparing Olidepo to Wade on offense and Dumars on defense is a bit over over the top.

Competition aside, lets appreciate the guys skill set. He obviously can play the game and has shown that in the summer league so far. Doesn't matter who he has played, he's still gotta go out & perform & he's done just that.

Too many people on here just want to look for blemishes, instead of appreciating what a rook is bringing on the first week of the job. He's got the skill set to develop into one fine NBA player, bottom line. Now he's just got to put in the work year after year to accomplish that.

He was actually a pretty good rebounder in college--just .6 fewer per 40, pace adjusted, than Sully and he's rebounded at about the same rate as Sully did in summer league last year.  And Sully 's rebound rate was 22nd in the NBA as a rookie last year.

If by "Wade on offense," he means complaining that he was fouled after every missed shot, then yeah, he does remind me a lot of Wade.

Yeah, 19 minutes and 8 points for the Springfield Armour.  Hollaaaa.

Nah, I do like him. He's cute. I hope he toughens up enough (mentally, even) to be a solid performer. I'm honestly excited to see Sully out there this year, too.

Realistically, it may be more likely he's hampered by his back for years to come. But if healthy, I think he could be pretty [dang] solid. And they'd probably complement each other well.

I honestly can't help wondering how much of the sarcasm / skepticism people have for Kelly Olynyk is a result of his haircut and skin color.  The "goofy white stiff" and Adam Morrison jokes are too easy to make.

With Pierce departed, Celtics need offense scoring in the worst way.  Somebody who can put the ball in the hole consistent .

KO  is all about offense.  He is a awesome weapon.

What we need is a inside enforcer ,  or FAB MELO to step up and play like he wants to take somebodies head off , instead of hanging his head going down the court.

Melo is just too nice  on the court.   He needs a game face and attitude  , and intensity ALL THE TIME.   He is so frustrating to watch .  He has almost that D12 look sometimes that drove Kobe crazy.

I hope the new coaches give Shav the playing time he needs to mold with Rondo and Sully .

My god, this is getting nuts. Its summer league. He's looked pretty good. Honestly, if he was averaging even 2/3rds of 19/8 I would be pretty happy.   Call it 13/6... solid role player on a good team... very satisfied with that, I think...

Comparisons to Dirk and Tim Duncan... i'm a bit speechless. He's never ever going to be close to that category.

I know what you mean.  My boss asked me if I cared that Danny drafted a white guy. ???  I said what the heck difference does it make so long as he can play?  I was shocked at the question and told him so.  I'm black, so he must have though I'd care (we talk about basketball all the time at work).  If they can't play, I don't want them on the team.  Just give me players who can ball (and KO can ball!).  Now if KO was a slow footed guy that can't play, like Morrison, I'd care, but not because he would be white.  It's just dumb.
