Rudy Gay is not going to be a superstar, ever.

To be fair, I hear he's decent in video games.  Definitely never in real life though, I'll give you that

Wow. I can't get over how many buy into the idea of tanking and not wanting any good players to come here. Geez. Anyway, I would love to have Rudy as I think he is much better than Jeff Green.

By going for Gay they aren't really tanking at all. It'd be building fort he future with a chance to sign him to a long term deal, he'd be a great building point. Then go into the draft for one of the 2 franchise PGs

I disagree, I think Gay is a really good player.  Does a little of everything, is clutch, and can defend.  I'd love to see what he can do in the right situation.  I'd like to see him in Portland, Minnesota, Chicago, or Washington.

He's a really good player to be sure. Way too many holes to be superstar though.

Every superstar has holes.  Rudy Gay does not have that many.

No, you misunderstood me. I want the Celts to go after Rudy because he's a good player and IN SPITE of tanking.

I am agreeing with your original idea. I can't get over others who don't want Rudy either because they think he's not as good as Jeff Green or don't want him so we can lose 70 games.

Below average shooter.
Bad habit of going iso despite bad shooting.
Underwhelming rebounder considering his size and athleticism.
Bad passer.
Absolutely awful AST:TO.
Poor leadership skills.
Demonstrated no improvement at all in 7 whole NBA seasons.
If anything, he has steadily gotten worse since his sophomore breakout.

Yes, Rudy Gay has many. There's a reason why Gay hasn't even been elected an All-Star yet, let alone reach superstar status.

Green is slightly worse but gets paid half of what Gay does. I'll take Green any day.

Green is much cheaper, and I'm not sure Gay is even an upgrade over him.  There are a lot of things about Gay's game that I don't like.  Rather just stick with Green.

Jeff Green showed improvement yes, but he disappears more than he shows up. He had a lot of success due too his advanced minutes with Celtics running a small lineup and he wasnnever an emphasis on opposing defenses. Don't get me wrong i really like his game, but i think Rudy Gay is a proven asset. You switch Rudy and Green right now and the Celticsaare a #4-5 seed.

I don't think it would have too be Rondo though. Raptors aren't making any waves with their current roster. Why not take on Wallace, Bass and Jordan Crawford, two viable starters and a pretty good 6th man. We take on Rudy Gays large EXPIRING contract. So if it doesn't work out then we don't resign
