Al Horford's dream of playing PF in the NBA is once again deferred.

Wow, that is very interesting.

It'll be great to see Millsap in Josh Smith's place. Compare and contrast.

I was kinda hoping Dallas would make a move for him.

2 years, $19 mil. That's a great signing by Atlanta.

Haha. I thought I was the only one who gets happy when I hear a cruddy team signing a good player. One less team in our way. There aren't that many teams left IMO until we are truly in the bottom 1/5 of the league. Too bad Philly already wrapped up dead last.

I don't get it.  He was a PF in college and has moved UP to center.  That is so rare in the college to NBA transition.  Usually college centers turn into NBA power forwards.

Can't do anything about it when a roster doesn't feature a center good enough to play besides you, particularly when you have Josh Smith at PF/SF.

Same thing that happened with Sully last year...

S&T of Josh Smith for Asik made so much sense.

Now, with Millsap in tow, not as much.

S&T of Josh Smith for Asik made so much sense.

Now, with Millsap in tow, it doesn't.

Millsap as sixth man. Give the three of them around 30 minutes each. Al Horford a bit more, say 36 minutes. Then 30 apiece for Millsap and Asik. Move Horford between the PF position in a top notch defensive + rebounding unit to center in a much more skilled offensive lineup.

That sounds like a good plan.  The Smith-Asik idea does make a ton of sense.

... but not as much sense as them trading Asik to NOH for Ryan Anderson, IMO.  Slightly inferior player to Smith in a vacuum, but much better player for his contract.

I don't understand the Asik/Lin trade rumors from Atlanta's perspective.  Seems like a lot of effort dismantling their roster to get back exactly where they started.

Asik allows them to move Horford to PF. and Lin... i dont know. But if they're uncomfortable paying Jsmoove the max (or Jsmoove is moving and they're going to S&T him to get something of value back), then i can understand why they would do the trade.
