I think Stern should punish any team that TANKS by kicking them out of the lottery, and don't tell me you cannot tell who is tanking.

I feel bad for Wiggins, in a way.  Several franchises are setting themselves up to suck in the 2013/2014 season, all in the hopes that he can be the next great one.  It's a ton of pressure.

Who actually appears to be tanking so far, though?  I only really see us and Philly (EDIT: maybe Utah, too) who appear to be deliberately taking major steps back. 

There are some teams like the Lakers that people are speculating might tank but haven't actually done anything along those lines yet, and some teams that will probably suck naturally, like the Kings, Suns, and Magic, but the vast majority seem to be at least trying to improve.  I think this is one of those cases where the narrative is driving the perception.

Surprisingly, three of the crappier rosters heading into this free agency, Charlotte, New Orlenas, and Dallas, are all making moves that appear to be not tanking for him.  While none of them are making moves to make them good enough to legitimately contend.

I don't see many teams tanking. Partly because this is more than a one man draft. I think Parker has a chance to be a franchise player and you also have guys like Randle and the Harrison brothers who can be all-stars. Next year's draft is one of the best in years. Teams don't need to gear up to be the worst.

This lottery system and the "worst is best" logic is ridiculous. Too easy too manipulate, rewards the losers and promotes match fixing. It has to be change.

Although i agree with the lottery system is terrible, i definately disagree with the assumption that awarding the worst team in the league with the 1st pick is a bad idea. I believe the worst team shouldnt even need the lottery they should get the first pick automatically.

you realize that this was the old system somewhat, and that system led to serious TANKING to get the worse record.

So I do not agree that mediocrity should be rewarded. I think there should be a league wide lottery at the end of every year.

I don't understand what everyone is complaining about. Tanking by no means equates to instant success. It's not as simple as "worst is best". The worst team only has a 25% chance at the best pick. Furthermore, there's so many factors surrounding the draft. Scouting the right players, having that right player develop the right way, and more. For every Oklahoma City, there's also a Charlotte, Minnesota, Sacramento, Washington... The list can keep on going.

I think a lottery is necessary, but not the way it is currently set up.

The worst record shouldn't be guaranteed the top spot, but it should have a good chance. They almost never win it, and most years the team with the worst record is actually the worst team.

indeed.  You cant just build a team around 31 draft picks.  Eventually you gotta have players that can gel and play together and that may mean adding vets.
