He's a flat out winner & one of the greatest QB's on the floor. He demands perfection on the court & that leads to more wins for your team.

Unless Ainge gets a kings ransom, Rondo is here for the long haul. I think Stevens & him will pair up just fine.

It seems like a driving force behind Rondo trade talks is that he has character issues. Exactly what though?

other driving forces are the flaws in his game, and the fact that he can actually net something of tangible value, as opposed to doing a running-in-place kinda trade.

but as for character issues, i think Rondo is more in the mold of Kobe without the media-savvy skills. a surly Kobe is no fun, and that is pretty much who rondo is. He's not a bad guy, but you can see how he can be difficult to deal with (similar to Kobe) even when you're teammates with him. His heart is in the right place but he just rubs guys the wrong way sometimes.

OTOH, KG - who is equally ultra-competitive - knows how to deal with teammates and knows what buttons to push at the right time. He's hard on guys, but he knows how to be hard on guys. It's a skill in itself which i don't think Rondo has.

Other GM's trying to drive down trade value, former teammates with thin skin, a coach who was not an intellectual equal to him and was let known as much and never got over it.

I think a cerebral coach is exactly EXACTLY what Rondo needs. I think Danny never trades Rondo because of "character issues". The folks like Ian who said Rondo is gone because of this new coach hire are scarily unfamiliar with Ainge. I say scarily because it's frightening how much influence they wield and how little they seem to know.

The media yesterday...who...what one player did they single out by name and imply this was going to be a problem for the coach? Rondo. Was nice to see Danny and Wyc almost wince at the continuing assault on this guy.

Danny has Rondo's back...get over it media and haters.

During an interview today, Ainge himself, said that Stevens reached out to several of Rondo's former teammates and he received "a lot of mixed signals" about Rondo.

Could you point me to where I can find him saying that? Because this certainly sounds like the complete opposite of what you're saying:

”There is no bigger fan of Rajon Rondo than me,” Stevens said. “The way he plays, his instincts, his way to make other people better, he sees plays ahead of the play, he’s an incredibly talented person and everyone I’ve talked to has raved about how intellectual he is.”

It starts around the 4:20 mark. But what is Stevens going to say, really? Yeah, Rondo is a smart player, but I've talked to a lot of his former teammates and many of them think he's a pain in the ass.

Like most of talented people on earth, they have very strong character and are a bit eccentric.
RR doesn't want to be smart with the media to portrait a good image of himself. He prefer to say nothing or few sarcastic jokes.
Media likes to shoot down people like that, so I'm not concern at all with Rondo's image.
Boston's management know who he is and I'm guessing they are happy about that, or else he would have been traded with KG and PP or even before that.
Have a leap of faith, don't listen to the idiotic media, they just like to feed drama to create news and keep their job.

That doesnt mean he received "mixed signals" from Rondo. Brad Stevens even gushed about Rondo in the media conference.

Demanding good play from teammates
High basketball iq
Surly
Doesn't cater to media
Will get technicals
Will get into fights

Isn't this Larry bird?  Bird got into a fight with dr j of all people (fair amount of other fights as well)
Maxwell doesn't have many good things to say about bird.  Mchale certainly has never minced words about bird being a pain in the ass.

But who are those players? Were they weak minded players or the Ray Allens?  KG and PP hung out with the guy in the off season. Perk loved him, Bradley likes him, Green from what I've heard likes him. So Was it Allen? Maybe current player in Lee?

Yeah he may be a pain, but it may be for all the right reasons. He could be a guy who doesn't want to practice, or asks to be traded all the time. Any great player is a pain. You ask people about Jordan and half love him and the other half things he's a jerk.

Boston media really lays it on thick with Rondo. If he was to win another championship I'm sure they'd find him more tolerable.

Kg's image throughout the league (and with players) is that he's a dirty player and he's nutty and crazy. We love him and his antics, but if they wouldn't have won a championship, in 2008 or at all, I'm sure the media (particularly Boston) would have a lot more to say about him. He can get away with disregarding teammates if they don't listen to him ONCE..no one cares. When they've lost games he's been known to throw tables and chairs..it's ok and we love and accept it.

Didn't Rondo himself say that he was "hard to coach"?

There's not a thing wrong with Rondo - just writers and talkers making crazy claims like they know anything....  just a bunch of BS

You could probably say the same thing about most of the other star players in the league.

Didn't Rondo himself say that he was "hard to coach"?

He said he might challenge what a coach says.

But at the same time he is a very smart player.

Obviously that mentality isn't going to sit well with some coaches (probably nearly all at some point or another) but maybe Rondo is right.  It feels like Stevens might have the ability to roll with that mentality.

Do people think Chris Paul never disagreed with Del Negro was doing?  We know LeBron did with Mike Brown.  Maybe Rondo is more likely to outright challenge the coach but it's very silly to act like he is the only player who ever does anything like this.

Rondo according to some people (warning: somewhat explicit content ensues):
