and a statement claiming rondo may be a poison is not blaming him. but some here cannot differentiate that. That much is obvious.

People saying Rondos gone would say it no matter who the coach is.  Not too worried about it.  I care about the team winning not who's wearing the uniform.

You lost your job, blame it on Rondo.

Your girlfriend broke up with you, blame it on Rondo.

Your car ran out of gas, blame it on Rondo.

I see it more as:

Trade a star, a Rondo argument breaks out.

Draft a rookie, a Rondo argument breaks out.

Hire a coach, a Rondo argument breaks out.

We don't know how Rondo is going to respond to the new coach. Who knows, they could have a very good relationship.

Let's not forget that PP wasn't exactly on board with Doc when he first arrived and they had to work on their relationship.

The thing about Stevens is that he trusts his players. He recognizes that basketball is about them, not him. This was Doc's biggest failing as a coach, in my opinion. Of all the things he was good at, Doc simply could not integrate new players outside of the Big 3. Players either fit in his system, or they failed and underproduced. And it's not surprising. It seems like every time a player goes from Boston to another team, they do much better.

Because of this, not only will our youngsters thrive, but I think Rondo will quickly hop on board the Stevens train. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but I have a feeling that Stevens will trust Rondo and let him run his own stuff, but not to the point where it's basically Rondo's team (a la CP3 under Del Negro last year).

I bet RR was rooting for Butler against Duke a few years back.   No one in KY likes Duke after Laetner.   I am a transplant here and they all hate Duke, I would guess that included RR as well.

he give him SIX years contract , sorry i dont believe its a quick rebuild
Wowwwwooo…Giving him 6 years contract...Strange, is not it??? Hmmm. Even great team of  Chicago Bulls of MJ cannot give anticipation of 6 years of contract Phil Jackson...or DA believes that for 6 years will be fighting at the very bottom part of EC

I like it--one year more than the longest contract they gave Doc.

I'm on board with it. Think it's best case scenario from what we had to choose from, and I like his chances. Those Butler teams overachieved every season, played hard, played together.

Hopeful he and Rondo get along fine, too. I like the perspective some posters shared - two great analytical minds, basketball IQs, competitive, etc.

When I first heard this, though, I did picture Rondo stealing his lunch the first few days of practice. :)

I'm actually optimistic Rondo gets along with Stevens. Stevens actually trusts his players, and realizes its their game, not his. He wants them to succeed every way possible. IMO, this was Doc's biggest shortcoming. He expected players to adjust to his system, and never catered to their strengths. It's why every year, the guys we bring in seem to underachieve, and the guys we lose seem to blow up on some other team. With Stevens, I think he'll let Rondo do his stuff, but not at the expense of the team losing. It'll be a great compromise between Doc his last few years in Boston, and VDN giving CP3 free reign.

Not my position....

If you bring in a George Karl and you bring in a guy like Smith, and you add another piece or two in that vein, that's a sign that Rondo stays.

This is a guy from college signing on for a 6 year tour with a team that's stocking up draft picks like they are foodstuffs going in the bomb shelter.  You don't want a problem child as your team leader and best player if you're going back to square one and trying to rebuild around the pups.

When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other.

What do you expect? Many people here thought Rondo was not needed after we went on a winning-streak after his injury last year.
