I see a lot of people adopting this logic that Rondo is automatically gone now that we've hired a young coach?

I don't get this logic.

Doc's relationship was great for KG and PP because he was a veterans coach. Doc obviously had SOME issue with Rondo (and I'd assume with other young players, but that's just my assumption).

No one thinks that a young coach is exactly what Rondo needs? Rondo and Brad could possibly be a really innovative team....no?

Because that's what some people want to believe.

Some people on this very site thought that because we had Sebastian Telfair and Delonte West we would get rid of Rondo, you just have to learn to ignore them

I agree , people just need someone to pin all the blame on for the KG ,pp ,Doc era ending .

Just like back in the day when people wanted to run a great player like PP out of town after he wore a bandage around his jaw after a playoff loss to the Pacers in which PP got ejected.

I can't see how people don't realize that Rondo is a great building block . I mean his great basketball IQ , with Stevens great IQ is going to be a great match!

It could go both ways.

On one hand, it's important for a young coach to have veterans he can rely on, and who know how to play winning, team basketball.  A coach's message can get lost if the veterans tune him out, and one way to make that message resonate is to have team leaders who buy it.

However, Rondo isn't necessarily known as a guy who buys in.  He's been known to give his coaches a hard time at every level he's played.  He reportedly was a vocal dissenter in the locker room, allegedly leading a mini-mutiny by the younger players a couple of seasons ago.

My guess is that the Celtics brought Stevens on board to be a teacher as the team rebuilds with a youth movement.  I'm not sure that Rondo will be consistent with that, but I'm not around the team on a day-to-day basis.  Danny seems like a believer in Rondo, and if he ultimately decides that Stevens can coach without being steamrolled by his hotheaded point guard with the extraordinary IQ, then I guess we all have to trust him.

I think there may be two lines of thought.

Number one, Rondo is so stubborn, that even an established championship coach had trouble with him.  Rondo may very well eat a new young coach alive.  I think this is a legitimate concern.

Second, this hire to many screams of tanking.  Something that may not mix well with Rondo.

Not everyone agrees that Rondo would have a poisonous attitude.  I'd at least give them a chance to work together.  It could end up being a great synergy between two intelligent basketball minds.

It's because some CB posters just want someone to blame.

Rondo is the future.

Enough said.

no, who here is blaming rondo? all i see is people predicting what may happen and the reason why. Did someone here blame rondo for doc, PP and KG leaving? if so that is nuts.

Honestly, the people on this board who want Rondo gone are going to claim that the newly hired coach is a sign that Rondo is going to be traded.

It doesn't matter which coach was hired, or what the circumstances are.  The response would have been the same.

I don't think we know what is happening with Rondo's future with the C's yet.  I don't think we will know until he finishes up his rehab and he is integrated into the team.

If I was a 36 year old wonderkid new head coach, I think it would benefit me greatly to have a super smart experienced point guard to help me develop the younger players and be a leader for the team.  But that is just me I guess...
