I would take Josh Smith or Al Jefferson over Kevin Love in a heartbeat.
Love is one of the most overrated players in the NBA. His only standout skill is rebounding, that's it. He's garbage as an inside scorer, he's a dramatically overrated shooter and he can't play defense to see his life. Plus he is undersized and lacks athleticism.
If I had to go for an unarhletic big that doesn't last defence it's much rather Jefferson, who actually has an ability to score in the paint, block the occasional shot and play center.
I'd rather Smith above both for his athleticism and versatility, which I think compliments Rondo's skill set will.
Uh, are we forgetting that in Love's two full years as a starter, he's been an incredibly good 3 point shooter? How's that not a stand out skill? And who the heck cares if he's undersized if he's the best rebounder in the league? What?
Personally I'd much rather hold on to Sully on his rookie contract, since he has all of the skill set love has with the added bonus of being a Better defender and inside scorer,.
This is actually fairly ridiculous on many levels. Sullinger may be a better defender, but that's about it. Love, in his rookie, had literally almost twice the rebounding rate of Sully. That's not the same skill set. That's one person dwarfing another.
Also, I'm not seeing the argument for Jefferson, considering Love is...well better on both ends of the ball. Love is a more efficient scorer, a much better rebounder, better passer...
Jefferson is a better shot locker, but overall, both are poor defensively.
Love is a top-10 guy in the league when healthy. He's had mostly garbage around him in Minnesota and still has managed to play some real efficient ball. You don't do that by accident. Jefferson, at his peak, is maybe top 20.
