Forget tanking for Wiggins, etc. Forget spending high dollars on Josh Smith, Big Al, etc. I thought all along Ainge's plan would be simple. Somehow, someway, transition from KG & bring in another former T-wolve, Kevin Love.
At the end of the 2014-2015 season, Love can opt out if he chooses to. Right now, it's looking that way although the landscape in the league can change daily. You might be able to sign and trade for him before that time comes, who knows what will come about.
Is Ainge going hard after Love ? He's got the 1st round ammo to do so, now all he needs is the cash. He won't be tanking for Wiggins, he'll be tanking contracts left and right in order to have the cash on hand to land Love. I think this is definitely part of the plan and he'll have a shot at it if he can unload heavy contracts.
So instead of signing players, look at him dumping the big money he's got on the roster. He might have to pair a pick or two here and there, but dumping Bass, Lee, & Wallace might be his next move(s).
