Forget tanking for Wiggins, etc.  Forget spending high dollars on Josh Smith, Big Al, etc.  I thought all along Ainge's plan would be simple.  Somehow, someway, transition from KG & bring in another former T-wolve, Kevin Love.

At the end of the 2014-2015 season, Love can opt out if he chooses to.  Right now, it's looking that way although the landscape in the league can change daily.  You might be able to sign and trade for him before that time comes, who knows what will come about.

Is Ainge going hard after Love ?  He's got the 1st round ammo to do so, now all he needs is the cash.  He won't be tanking for Wiggins, he'll be tanking contracts left and right in order to have the cash on hand to land Love.  I think this is definitely part of the plan and he'll have a shot at it if he can unload heavy contracts.

So instead of signing players, look at him dumping the big money he's got on the roster. He might have to pair a pick or two here and there, but dumping Bass, Lee, & Wallace might be his next move(s).

... You're not wrong.

But that's why you tank this season.  Best case scenario you land Wiggins or one of the other potential 4-7 stars in the draft.  Worst case scenario, you use the lotto pick as a key part of a trade package for someone like Kevin Love.

When you have assets, you have options.  Need to get the assets first.  Bottom out this season and then put together a competitive team.

Love is not the franchise player Garnett was.

If he is the master plan, it's not a very good one.

Allegedly, Minny turned down an offer of Thompson/Waiters/this year's #1 pick for Love so I doubt they'd be interested in any paltry offer we could scrap together.

I don't really dig the idea of Kevin Love on the Celtics, he's a malcontent who's thrown his team under the bus a couple of times in the media, and I'm not convinced he's anything other than a good stretch four putting up great numbers on a crap team.

Also, I'm wary of anyone that can't do pushups without injury.

I like the idea of rebuilding on the fly, and I said in a previous thread I can't imagine Love not playing in Boston at some point in his career.

Unfortunately, I don't see that happening while he's in his prime.  In the near future, there will likely be more desirable destinations that would be happy to bid on him. And perhaps most importantly, there's no McHale around to hand us a game-changer this time.

I've never really cared for Kevin Love.  Seems like a major empty numbers guys.  He hasn't had much support in Minnesota but he's had some decent players at times and has done very little with them.

Unfortunately, he won't be here into his mid 30s like another 4 ...Tom Gugliotta

He is the one player I see building on though...if he  signs here after his current contract

This.

If we tank this year and can get a high lottery pick we will have the ammo to put together a competitive team and not just a perennial first round exit squad like the Hawks.

A 2014 lottery pick is an amazing trade chip and we could bring in another star to pair with Rondo, Green and our young guys. Alternatively we could keep the pick and move some combination of our future picks, Rondo, Green etc. to put together our next big 3.

Either way that 2014 lotto pick could be the key to our rebuild.

A year too early for K-Love I reckon. Minnesota will take one more shot at building a playoff team around before considering parting with him.

Minnesota won't deal him unless they have too.

I think if Kevin Love had a choice, he'd go to Los Angeles, owing to his family and college connections.

I would take Josh Smith or Al Jefferson over Kevin Love in a heartbeat.

Love is one of the most overrated players in the NBA.  His only standout skill is rebounding, that's it.  He's garbage as an inside scorer, he's a dramatically overrated shooter and he can't play defense to see his life.  Plus he is undersized and lacks athleticism.

If I had to go for an unarhletic big that doesn't last defence it's much rather Jefferson, who actually has an ability to score in the paint, block the occasional shot and play center.

I'd rather Smith above both for his athleticism and versatility, which I think compliments Rondo's skill set will.

Personally I'd much rather hold on to Sully on his rookie contract, since he has all of the skill set love has with the added bonus of being a Better defender and inside scorer,.
