That would be insane indeed if the trade is legit and the math is correct.

A top 5 pick in addition to that core would really expedite the rebuild. The only problem is I don't see any good unrestricted free agents in 2014 (assumimg LeBron doesn't opt out) with that cap space. Even if we could fill up our roster with one year rentals, we'd have to pay Bradley/Monroe and may not be able to afford even one max FA, let alone 2.

Had their been a strong FA group in 2014, I'd say this trade would make Ainge look like a genius, but it may actually be a season too soon.

Here is the FA list (according to ESPN, fwiw):

Regardless, I do the trade Rondo posted if true.

I wonder if we could land a restricted player with a backloaded contract or S&T deal for some of our accumulated assets, or wait until 2015 when some of those guys will become unrestricted.

2014: John Wall, Paul George, Larry Sanders, Demarcus Cousins
2015: Kyrie Irving

In theory we could:

1) Tank this year and get Wiggins
2) Play out 1 year with Wiggins and the youngin's
3) Resign Monroe, Bradley and Knight and still have room for a max player after Bass expires.
4) Give max money to Kyrie Irving or John Wall

2015-2016 Boston Celtics:

Kyrie Irving
Andrew Wiggins
Jeff Green
Jared Sullinger
Greg Monroe

bench: Avery Bradley, Brandon Knight, 3x 1st rounders, MLE, LLE

Well that was fun.

HoF might be a bit bold, but at the same time, he was one of the most effective 19 year-olds in league history last year (and he won't even turn 20 until next month).

Dude was putting up 15/15/3 per 40 as a teenager, it's not crazy to think he could average that in a regular starting role within the next couple of years. If he gets substantially better, look out.

HoF is hard to project even for young All-Stars, but Drummond could very well be a top-3 center for the next 10 years if he simply stays on course.
Yes, I know it is bold. But I have never seen a prospect that I have liked more than Drummond. EVER. Good finisher when driving, extremely athletic, great rebounder, great defender, great at blocking shots, and amazing at passing the ball (IN THE RIGHT OFFENSE).

I believe Drummond is best suited as a stretch 4. His skill set would be better utilized as a stretch 4. His offense is driving to the basket with power and athleticism, not posting up. And he can dish the ball extremely well to open players when driving.

Drummond took 82% of his shots within 3 feet of the basket.  For comparison, DeAndre Jordan took 72% of his shots within 3 feet of the basket.  Greg Monroe took 56% of his shots within 3 feet of the basket.

A guy who shoots 37.1% on free throws (up from 29.5% in college) does not strike me as the sort of player with the shooting touch to be a stretch 4.

Yeah, but Drummond was shooting from a post-up position. He has a good jump shot and he's good at driving. The Pistons misused him.

When has he demonstrated that he has a good jump shot?  The reason that people speculate that the Pistons will trade either Drummond or Monroe eventually is because neither of them has a jump shot and it's difficult to put two big men like that on the floor together.

Yea, referring to Drummond as a stretch 4 seems vey bizarre. I would say he's actually the complete opposite.

I think the offensive dream is Amare Stoudemire, who simply dominated the pick & roll (with a nice midrange game). Drummond has a long way to go but his finishing skills and athleticism are there. If I'm the Piston I try to mold him into a better rebounding and defending Stoudemire, which would be an MVP-type player even if the offensive production was a little less.
