It literally makes zero sense to bring Rondo back until at least half way through the season .

What is there to gain from it ?

No sense in trading him either because we aren't going to get anything close to fair value .

He is under contract for a few more years, at a great price .

Let him come back slowly and work his value up again.

If he is physically capable, why can't he come back at the start of the season, with limited minutes as a starting point for working his value up?

It doesn't really make sense to hold him out if he is healthy and cleared to play.  I can understand playing it safe if he is not comfortable physically mentally, but I don't think it makes sense to force him to sit if he is willing and able to play ahead of schedule.

Fixed that for you.  It's the head game that makes this process so difficult, because the athlete has got to be at the point where they're so fully recovered that they're able to play uninhibited.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Holding out as long as you can isn't always the asnwer either.

Evrybody's body is different. It's really up to the doctors first then him. For every Derrick Rose their can be an Adrian Peterson.

But if staying off it longer 100% guerantee's a return to normal Rondo then by all means do it. I'm just saying with injuries like this nothhing is definite.

Adrian Peterson isn't a human being so it's kind of moot.

Keeping Rondo healthy and on the team while tanking has the highest ceiling of potential moves for us.  Can you imagine him throwing alley oops to Wiggins?  Granted, it could also blow up in our faces a hundred times over, but there is such potential.....
To Wiggins, or Parker, or Randle, or Gordon, or Cauly-Stein...or even Olynyk.

Let Rondo come back when he's ready, but do it very slowly and carefully. He doesn't have to play 40 minutes a game this coming year...now does he? Even if he is ready to play in November, how about limiting him to 8 minutes? If his knee feels good, and as he gets into playing shape, increase his minutes...slowly. By March maybe he's back to playing 32 minutes a game, maybe fewer.

If Rondo is going to be the leader going forward, he needs to lead, and he'll lead on the court better than anywhere else. We just don't need to over do it, or rush things.

If, by him not playing much, the C's lose a bunch of games...well, is that so bad? If some young guy (like Pressey) gets a lot of playing time and exposure, but we still lose a lot of games, is *that* so bad?  :)

If he does then we probably get a top 5 pick, but I agree I hope he's 100% by season start.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

How many players who comeback play 100 percent or are not prone to getting re injured? If det wants to take the risk with rondo you have to think about. No way they give u anything big like drummond but prob knight and a 1st or stuckey and 2 first.

let him sit out the season and come back healthy in 2015.  We'll have a lot of options then and probably a top 5 pick to build around.

I think this is a great idea. Let a guy who will likely be ready to play close to the beginning of the season sit out the whole year. Plus, I am sure Rondo is the type of guy who will want to do that, because he isn't competitive at all. I would say let him sit out two seasons, that way he will have two young superstars to play with when he comes back.   ::) ::)
