If this a ploy to lure Howard too. I'm on board with it.

Just asked a source if the #Pistons will offer Josh Smith the max, the answer: "Absolutely not."

Good. Smith for Jeff Green money would be fine.

To me it just means that Smith will have higher incentive from procuring a sign and trade with Boston, who should be willing to pay more. At the very least, if we can get him at market value, Boston should be his preferred destination if no one out there is willing to pay premium for him.

Market value: Smith at $12 million for Green, Bradley, picks.

We should trade Rondo to the Pistons for Drummond and Charlie V's expiring deal... then they can sign Josh Smith and roll with Rondo, Smith and Monroe.  They might even have enough to go after Dwight as well.

They like calderon

No interest in that kind of deal, pass.

I thought so. Regardless, what would you think a PF in his prime, who averaged 18 ppg, 9 rpg, 4 apg, 1+ steal and 1.5+ blocks in 35 minutes over the last couple of seasons, is really worth?

We got carried away a little here in the "Josh Smith is not a first option" discussion to the extent to which we forget that he's... kind of good.

I'd rather hang on to Green and snag Tyreke, if that's the rub.

I don't care much about the money we pay him, I care more about what we give up for him.

I wouldn't give up Green for him, it's kinda pointless and considering what you'd have to include, a step backward.

I honestly don't see why the Hawk wouldn't be interested in something as simple as Humphries (an expiring) + multiple future picks. Maybe include Brooks, Fab Melo, Jordan for trade exceptions.

Why would they say no?

I wouldn't give up Green for him,

This.
Honestly, giving up Green who has never been without Pierce seems like moving ina kinda 1 step forward 2 steps back.

Not when you're giving him up for a considerably better player.

And I want a musical wish.

I also want Rondo to start making free throws -- perhaps this way we can justify putting him on the floor together with his buddy Smith.

That's really getting annoying.
I bet you 10 TPs Rondo comes back and shoots 75% for the season.
Yeah, we've seen this film -- in 11-12, when he wiggled himself around in the low 70s or so all the way through mid-January... and then finished shooting 59% for the season.
This time, things will be different.

Jeff Green has shown to be a terrific individual defender. Josh Smith can make plays and run 4/5 PnR like a guard. Different skill sets. Smith is certainly more talented. However, the gap isn't as large as perhaps some would think it is.

When you factor in the huge contract Smith would demand, I don't think he's worth the trouble. Dollar for dollar Green may end up being more valuable.

So I wouldn't give up Green for Smith. With our many firsts, I don't think it's inconceivable that we could pull this off without Green.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I really hope not. We'll need a serious pair of shooters with Rondo and Smith out there. Reddick and Gree or something. Maybe this why danny took Olnyk and his stretch ability.
We'll need Sully, Green and a serious 3 point threat to prevrent teams from clogging up the lane all night.

Maybe Danny pitches this to Dwight howard too sure would be a good way to get him interested.
I've thought ainge might pursue some elite bigs but a move like this means we are probably small balling with a front court of Sully and Smith.

I'm hoping that Ainge is posturing here to keep Rondo happy because I just can't see any core with Rondo and Josh Smith competing with Chicago or the Heat at all.

To play small ball you need shooters. We don't have any. So if Smith comes, expect more moves with our picks and avery or something for a genuine shooting guard. I can only imagine Danny forces Smith to play inside and kills the jumpshooting.

I'm a pro tanker but as long as he gets shooters you'd have a fun team and Rondo would turn Smith into an All Star.
Unfortunately the reality is that unless Green improves to an All Star level, this team has zero chance with a core of Green, Smith and Rondo. Theres no superstar there.

Unless Danny is thinking about trying for Dwight Howard and using his picks and Jeff Green as bait.
You'd need another team involved to move Wallaces deal and guve them picks for the favor.

We shall see.

Read that last line again. One more time.

It sounds good but no way we land Smith and Howard. lol

Yeah but if they let Calderon walk, they could have enough money to trade Charlie V for Rondo, sign Josh Smith AND sign Dwight.
