Portland will send the rights to Kostas Papanikolau and Marko Todorovic to the Rockets, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Shame, I would've liked him in Boston. Seems a steal for Portland.

Wow, Kostas Papanikolau has been moved around a lot for a guy who hasn't even been in the league yet.

Shoot. Wonder how Portland is doing this. Cap space, or trade exception? Didn't know they had either.

I guess with Sullinger and Olynyk here, not to mention Bass and Humphries, it didn't make much sense for us to trade for TRob.

Well, Ainge didn't have the tools to make a deal before July 1. The China 3 contracts didn't match, there's no trade exception to use, and Boston isn't under the cap.

Morey probably wanted to clear the space ASAP to present Dwight with an offer.

Signs of confidence on landing Howard?

Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.. That's all it took for T-Rob. I wish Boston swooped in. I'm not sure if we have any foreign assets for Houston to stash away though. Two second rounders for a guy who is just one year removed from being a top 5 lottery pick is an absolute steal.

Seems that way and they certainly appear to be the favourites. They've cleared enough cap for him now so the only thing standing in their way is Dwight himself...so, y'know...good luck with that, Morey.

Deal can't be completed until July 10, but agreed in principle now, sources tell Y! Houston goes into Dwight Howard meeting with cap space.

OK, so Portland is using cap space next season to make this move.

You know who had two 2014 2nd rounders on Draft Night, but used them to move up from #16 to #13? Danny Ainge.

Yeah but who would you rather have? We gave up two future second rounders for Olynyk and it seems to me TRob is the better player. So maybe we could have sent Houtston those 2 future first rounders instead - but it would not work anyway being over the cap so never mind :). T-Rob was the 5th overall pick so definitely a good pick up for the blazers.

We are over the cap so we could just send 2nd rounders.  We would need to match salary.  That is the advantage that Portland had.  This is not something that the Celtics could have done.

I guess this means that Houston feels very confident about getting Howard.
