He was a nice gamble when we had a bunch of veterans in the locker room, but for a young rebuilding team you can't afford to have potential headcases like T-Will.

Still, I'd rather play him than MarShon Brooks or Jordan Crawford.

Good.  No use to pay $200,000 in guaranteed salary by keeping him past today.  He's a waste of talent.

Is there a non-guarantee component to it had he remained?

Called this way back when. Those arguing that he was the answer at back up PG were just fooling themselves.

The Celtics saved $200,000 and its pretty obvious they were not intriguing anyone with the addition of the China 3 for a contract.

Gotta think Randolph, White, and when he gets here, Joseph will all go the same way. Cut for savings. Money savings seems to be a big theme this off season.

Lastly, with all the news around Boston of Aaron Hernandez, his alleged involvement in murders and his involvement with guns, this had to effect how the Celtics viewed the TWill situation. The last thing the C's need is a PR problem with a player that has already had his third chance in the NBA.

So I guess a chance at getting T-Rob is out of the window now?

As for T-Will, it's an unfortunate story. Lots of potential and talent to be sure, but his head was never screwed on straight, and as a result, he's been on 4 teams in 4 years with a slew of off-the-court issues in between. Best of luck to him in the future, but it doesn't seem like he can shake his bad mojo.

It depends on what type of trade exception is created in the Nets deal.

Too bad.

The C's gave him a chance. Hope the gun issue helps him commit to getting back on track and this waiver does not set him back too much.

From C's standpoint with Hernandez thing they have no choice but to take a hard line on this.

Disappointed as I thought he could have really helped us in tanking next season.

Does that mean the other China guys get a pay day if they're not released today too?
August 1st for them...I think.

Depending on how the roster shakes out, it's not impossible for him to be re-signed to a new contract at a later date.

  • You say when......
Okay, so they released Terrance Williams the other day..just as he FINALLY got playing time, and PROVED to be quite an asset....a taller guard, very good defense, slasher, can handle the ball, confident, and a decent shot.....all GREAT for a guy who has played so little, compared to the other guards....He would be GREAT alongside Rondo......oh just like TONY ALLEN...who happens to be a free agent...ya..the guy we LET GO for PAPERMAN Marquis Daneils.....oh right...you liked him...so did the OTHER team....because he brought NOTHING....who liked TA...well, not many here....and not D WADE or Lebron and sooo many others that  actually mattered....!!! Better resign Terrance Williams before he is another regretted loss...!!!!

$200,000.00  OMG...THAT is sooo much money in NBA terms......When in reality $200,000.00 in NBA terms is actually about TWO CENTS....!!! They threw MORE than that away on more than 15 players over the last 5 years......Danny better have something cooking....

We did snag Phil Pressey to fill our backup point duties. I'd rather have him running the game than TWill.
