Sign and Trade Darren Collison for $6 million a year for three years, Bernard James, Vince Carter and an unprotected 2015 for Rondo works.

Celtics then buy out Carter for $2 million and cut James saving a few million this year.

A back-up PG signed up to a semi-bad contract, $3 mil in savings and a likely non-lotto pick?

I'm amazed at some of the offers people are willing to entertain for Rondo.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Guessing Dallas is giving up on CP3, but still want Howard and a top PG to entice Howard here or at least improve the team if Dwight goes elsewhere.

Hard to figure out contracts right now but something like

Rondo
Brooks
BKN Trade Exception (do we actually have this? I've heard mixed reports)

for

Larkin
Marion
Carter
Mayo S+T
2014 or 2015 1st

Would do it for me.  Could add some filler like our China guys for people like Crowder, James or Morrow to give them even more salary room.  Dallas adds Rondo, maintains cap flexibility, and we get another expiring in Marion - he could backup Green or be a trade piece later.  And we know Danny has had some interest in Larkin and Mayo.

So a guy we passed on at #13 in a weak draft.  A free agent we were going to get (plus a pick) for old  Ray. Veteran guys we'd cut or dump.  And a single first round pick (likely to be very late if we're giving Dallas Rondo and helping them clear space to sign Howard).

And this would do it for you?!?

I thought TE's couldn't be combined in trades anyway?

If Dallas gets Dwight. Perhaps we could put together a package for Kaman and Collison in exchange for Rondo & change; but hardly seems worth it. How many draft picks do you really want.

Rondo and Wallace's contract for Kaman, Collison and Shawn Marions's expiring?

This why Boston cannot attract Free Agents.

You can be good, All Star level and in your prime but you will always be on the trading block.

I understabd we are looking at the future but [dang] can we atleast slow down??? Rondo is a building block, not the main piece but a big piece and Danny is shopping him like he's easily replaceable. Good Lord...

man, you just love dumping on anything the organization since they didn't keep PP and KG around.

The truth is Danny is a great GM who does what is best for the franchise to win another championship, not keep trying to be a pretender contender .

No one is untouchable if we are getting a good return . At this point we are rebuilding .

I agree Rondo is a building block, but if we get offered a high lottery pick or star in his prime in return, I am listening .

Other than that , I agree, keep Rondo.

No I have moved on from PP and KG. I get it now.

Rondo is a different story. We agree that he's a building piece. And I said this already, if we are getting another all star talent in return, thats fine.

My problem is trading him for more "assets".

A.) We already have plenty of assets
B.) We can develop some of those assets and raise their stock.
C.) There's no assurance that the "extra assets" we get for Rondo will turn into another All Star that is capable of helping the Superstar Danny is trying to get in the 2014 draft.

You dont trade your in his prime, proven and a playoff performer to add, for just assets. We are totally relying too much on luck if thats the case.

Larkin, Marion, 2016 and 2018 unprotected 1sts coming to Boston for Rondo and either Bass or Wallace.

Taking back Marion eases the cap situation for them. Take whoever else on that team that's an expiring.

Dallas would have to throw in Larkin and Ledo, their 2014 and 2016 1st, whatever cap fillers to make the money work for Rondo and Bass, Lee, or Wallace, and Dirk.

We then move Dirk for another 1st.  That's a lot of young guys we can develop, a lot of money off our cap, and a lot of picks to use or package.  If that's too much for Dallas then so be it, we can move Rondo anytime it's Dallas that's on the clock.

I would apologize if Shane Larkin turns into an All Star, but this is a terrible value for Rondo.

We are basically trading for hope and luck here. Pray for luck and Hope that whatever assets we get turn into an All Star in the near future. Where as we can teade him for an All Star talent or someone close and that guy can be a a solid supporti g cast for whoever Danny is after in 2014.

This trade will more likely land us a superstar in 2014, but that kid wont get any help until we flip those "assets" theres a ton of uncertainty on that, whereas we can develop our assets now, flip it for the 2014 superstar and still have an all star, top 5 pg along with him.

If this is the kind of deal Danny is trying to get from Rondo, I would really pray to the basketball gods a lot. Because while theres a potential to have those returns be flipped into something special, theres as big a potential this blows in our face.

If Boston has problems attracting free agents, it's for reasons that existed before Ainge was GM.

What is Ainge waiting for? Trade Rondo because we don't want anyone left from that championship team. And who cares what we get for him, he stinks anyway, right? As each day goes by I get more sick to my stomach.  They will be paying people to go to games next year.

Someone earlier mentioned basketball IQ. Doesn't Rondo have a pretty high one? Really hating every minute of this purge of everything that was great about this team.

This "rumor" makes no sense.  Dallas has absolutely nothing to offer.

I wouldn't even want Dirk (at his age and contract).

Forgot to add, Ainge is not a "great" GM.  Better-than-average, yes. Great, no.
