Ok, I've been reading a lot of nonsense on this topic on various forums and I wanted to add a bit of reality to it.
First, its not such an outlandish idea not to consider it. Ainge clearly wants Howard like he wanted KG years ago. When there is a top big guy on the move or unhappy where he is, you need to pay attention. Howards friendship with Smith and his with Rondo gives this legs.
Second, we need to agree that for this to happen, everyone has to be on board and want it to happen.
3rd we need to look at LAs position. They are in cap hell. So they are not going to want to do a sign and trade and take back money they will have to pay more than 2 fold on. So to get Howard we need to create a TPE by trading either Wallace or Hump to another team with picks.
Basically we could just trade Wallace or Humpries and picks for Smith (or possibly some combination of our other guys if they wanted them) (or possibly create another TPE and sign him)
The end result is if Rondo can talk Smith and Howard into wanting to come here it can happen. We have 9 1st round picks over 5 years and 7 of them we could trade. There will be teams that are under the minimum cap and might not mind absorbing Wallace if they get 3 or 4 1st round picks. If you can'r get anyone with the money anyways, and you need to spend it, and your cheap so you'll like the picks more.
Sorry for the rant but Ive just read so much nonsense on this subject I felt the need to clear things up. It all comes down to if they want to come here or not.
