Well the source is pretty fuzzy on that espn.com article.  "i was told..." told by who?  You know that people are making up stuff left and right about the C's right now.  Lots of it probably coming from vultures from other teams that want to fleece us for the remaining talent we have because they see a fire sale.

If I am DA I don't decide on RR's role or non-role in the rebuild until I talk with him after everything is cooled down, and after I see how he does when he gets back to playing shape.  Anything before that really doesn't matter because you are going to be selling low on him if he isn't back yet.

No one hear really knows what DA is thinking, or how long he thinks the rebuild will take.  Rajon is a great talent and DA isn't letting that go for anything but a good deal for the C's.  That isn't happening until sometime in 2014, if at all.

Don't think Rondo is going anywhere , unless the c's get blown away by an offer

They would have drafted Schroeder at #13 if they were planning on trading Rondo.

A quick question. Why must the acquisition of a star player in 2014  automatically come at the cost of Rajon Rondo? It didn't cost us Pc k Pierce to bring in both KG and Ray Allen.

Because if we have Rondo, our already slim chances of getting a top 5 lottery pick is out of the window. Basically, Rondo makes us too good to suck that bad.

This stuff doesn't even have to come from anywhere at all.  These guys make stuff up all the time.  When the preface something with a phrase like "word on the street . . . ," they have absolutely no responsibility to have any insider knowledge other than what the other sports writers or the guy down the local pub or the folks blogging on the internet are saying about matters.  Sports journalism is nothing more than National Enquirer type reporting.

We should all be aware of this by now.

Rondo/Lee for Kemba, MKG?

Gross. If they included their pick next year then yes. Kemba is a bust and it looks like MKG is heading that way to.

That makes sense, but I have seen posts indicating that even if we do get a good lottery pick for 2014, we still trade Rondo to get a star to compliment that pick. Alternatively he could do a DRose and just take the season off.

MKG is 19 years old. How is he a bust already?

Unless they really liked Olynyk more. Makes sense since they jumped Utah to get him.

So you sit him out for most of the year a la D Rose, ditto on Sully. ;D

Fully agree on Kemba.  I don't think a team can win with him as its starting PG.

Fully disagree on MKG.  Let him gain some experience.  He has the length, athleticism and tenacity to guard nearly anybody.  He'll be a starter for years based on that alone, regardless of how much his offense progresses.  Speaking of offense, he needs some serious work on that jumpshot but time in on his side.  He works hard and I think he'll get there.

Yeah, instead of using the other assets, which are plenty, trade the All Star who can tremendously help this targeted Superstar win games for the team.

And then we pray to the basketball Gods the we could be once again be lucky and flip the remaining assets into an another All Star talent. Because we already have one and we gave him away to land this Superstar, and he might bolt if we don't get him any help.

This is part of the rebuilding process and as someone who has accepted that sentimentality is not currently needed in these parts, I love it. Danny is not messing around -- if it takes hitting the bottom to live at the top, trading Rondo is the final step. There's no use waiting around to see how his knee pans out, how well he'll handle the rebuild, etc. Get a pick, a young talent and an expiring contract and deal him.

The Celtics can secure a top five pick in next year's unbelievable draft (I know everyone loves Wiggins, but Julius Randle anyone? Jabari Parker?) and begin plugging in future studs around Bradley, Green and Sully for the next few years. Entering 2016 I wouldn't be surprise if we're already on the rise with potentially two very valuable picks from the Nets (swap in 2017/the 2018 pick) still on our hands.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.
